Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a COO
Frame your Australian executive credentials precisely
U.S. employers need to file a Labor Condition Application that ties your role to a specific degree field. Translate your Australian qualifications into U.S.-equivalent terms, clarifying that a three-year Australian bachelor's degree meets USCIS standards for specialty occupation.
Target companies with existing E-3 filing history
Search DOL's Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify employers who have sponsored E-3 workers in executive roles before. These companies already understand the LCA process and won't need convincing that COO-level positions qualify.
Distinguish your COO role from general management
USCIS scrutinizes executive roles because broad management duties can fail the specialty occupation test. Your offer letter and employer support documents must tie the COO function to a specific theoretical and practical application of a degree field, not just oversight responsibilities.
Negotiate LCA filing into your offer timeline
The employer must file and receive a certified LCA from DOL before your visa appointment can proceed. Build two to three weeks of LCA processing time into your start date negotiation so certification doesn't delay your consulate appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for executive-level cases
COO sponsorship packages require precise LCA wage classification and employer documentation. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so the specialty occupation argument for a senior executive role is framed correctly from the start.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your interview
Consular officers apply extra scrutiny to senior executive applicants because leadership roles signal long-term ties. Bring documentation of your intent to return to Australia, such as ongoing property ownership or family commitments, alongside your employment and degree records.

Find COO JobsCOO E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find COO jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and industry to surface COO and senior executive positions at employers who are already open to E-3 sponsorship, which cuts out the cold outreach to companies unfamiliar with the visa.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a COO role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but the approval depends on how the role is documented, not the title alone. USCIS requires that the position normally requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, finance, or operations management. A COO role framed around broad leadership without a defined degree requirement is vulnerable to a Request for Evidence. Your employer's offer letter and LCA must connect the duties to a specific academic discipline.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for COO roles?
For Australian nationals, the E-3 is far more practical than the H-1B for COO-level hiring. The H-1B has an 85,000-slot annual cap with a lottery that gives most applicants roughly a one-in-four chance of selection, and COO roles at smaller companies are sometimes questioned on specialty occupation grounds there too. The E-3 has a 10,500-slot annual allocation that has never filled, no lottery, and allows you to apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Australia after your employer's LCA is certified.
Can I change employers after starting a COO role on an E-3?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific and does not transfer automatically. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL, and you'll generally need to attend a new consulate appointment in Australia to obtain a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. in that status. Some executives manage the transition by timing the new LCA certification before their final day with the prior employer.
