Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Crew Leader
Document your supervisory scope precisely
E-3 specialty occupation approval depends on the role requiring a specific degree, not just experience. Get your employer to describe crew leadership duties in terms of technical oversight, project coordination, and regulated compliance work that maps to your qualification.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Contractors and project management firms that have filed Labor Condition Applications before are far more likely to move quickly on E-3 sponsorship. DOL's public disclosure data lets you verify whether a prospective employer has prior LCA experience in your role category.
Clarify degree equivalency before applying
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes, but your employer's immigration contact needs to confirm this before filing the LCA. Raise it during the offer stage, not after paperwork has started.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and consulate prep
The LCA must be DOL-certified before your visa application can proceed. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the DOL submission, visa paperwork, and consulate appointment preparation so the process doesn't stall between your offer and your start date.
Negotiate your offer against DOL prevailing wage requirements
Your employer must certify on the LCA that your wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Review the relevant wage level before negotiating your offer so the number you agree on satisfies the certification without a back-and-forth later.
Start the consulate appointment process early
U.S. consulate interview availability in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth varies significantly by time of year. Request your employer lock in a start date that allows at least four to six weeks between LCA certification and your intended entry to the U.S.

Find Crew Leader JobsCrew Leader E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Crew Leader jobs in the U.S. with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that come with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see employers who have indicated willingness to sponsor. Standard job searches won't filter for E-3 sponsorship readiness, so using a purpose-built tool saves significant back-and-forth with employers who aren't familiar with the visa.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Crew Leader role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined by the employer. A Crew Leader position qualifies when it requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as construction management, civil engineering, or project management as a minimum entry requirement. Roles where a degree is preferred but not required, or where any degree field is accepted, typically won't satisfy the specialty occupation standard. The job description your employer puts on the LCA is what USCIS and the consular officer will evaluate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Crew Leader roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but it has no annual cap and no lottery, meaning your employer can file at any time and you don't risk being shut out for a year. The H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate for most applicants. Both visas require the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, but the E-3 process is faster and more predictable for eligible candidates.
Can I change employers or projects while on an E-3 as a Crew Leader?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. if you travel internationally after changing jobs. If you stay in the U.S. and your status is still valid, you can begin working for the new employer once the new LCA is certified and your visa still covers the role. Each employer sponsorship is independent, so you can't carry over an existing E-3 to a new employer without restarting the filing process.
