Align your degree to the role description
Ops support roles span logistics, IT systems, and business analysis. Your Australian degree must match the specific field your employer lists as required, not just preferred, or the LCA and visa application will lack the specialty occupation foundation.
Target employers with DOL LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Certification Data Center for employers who have previously certified LCAs for operations or business support roles. These companies already understand the E-3 visa process and are far less likely to stall on sponsorship paperwork.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers fast
Migrate Mate filters Operations Support Specialist jobs by E-3 visa sponsorship availability, so you're applying to roles where the employer is already prepared to sponsor rather than discovering their hesitation after an offer.
Clarify the LCA wage level before accepting an offer
The LCA your employer files with DOL must certify a prevailing wage for your specific job location. Ask HR which wage level they intend to certify at before you accept, since a Level I wage can sometimes create complications if your experience warrants Level II or III.
Handle your LCA and visa paperwork end to end
Once you have an offer, the filing sequence matters: the LCA must be DOL-certified before your DS-160 and consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage the entire process from LCA submission through your Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth consulate appointment.
Prepare your credential equivalency documentation early
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but your employer's HR team may request a formal credential evaluation. Get this done before the job offer stage so it doesn't delay your LCA filing.
E-3 Visa Operations Support Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Operations Support Specialist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search, since it surfaces Operations Support Specialist roles where employers have confirmed E-3 sponsorship willingness. Standard job boards don't filter by visa type at this level of specificity, so you often spend time applying to roles where the employer isn't prepared to sponsor an Australian national.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Operations Support Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the position is defined. An ops support role that requires a bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, information systems, or a closely related field will generally satisfy the specialty occupation requirement. Roles described as needing any degree, regardless of field, are more difficult to qualify. The job description and how your employer frames the LCA both matter significantly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Operations Support Specialist roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but it has major structural advantages for this type of role. There's no annual lottery, no cap, and no wait for a registration window. You can apply year-round, start as soon as your visa is issued, and renew indefinitely in two-year increments. H-1B visa applicants in the same role face a roughly 25% selection rate and a mandatory October 1 start date even if selected.
Can I transfer my E-3 sponsorship if I change employers in an Operations Support role?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific, so each new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp unless you're already in the U.S. and can use a new LCA with your current visa status. There's no formal transfer mechanism like H-1B portability. Plan for a processing gap if you're switching roles between consulate appointments.
