Translate your credentials for U.S. employers
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 visa purposes. Get your operations management or business qualifications documented clearly so employers don't hesitate when their HR team runs the specialty occupation assessment.
Target companies with existing LCA filing history
Employers who've filed Labor Condition Applications before understand the DOL certification step and won't treat it as an obstacle. Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify operations-focused companies that have sponsored non-U.S. workers previously.
Frame the role as a specialty occupation upfront
Service Operations Manager titles can attract USCIS scrutiny if the job description sounds generalist. Before your offer letter is drafted, confirm the role requires a specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree, to protect the specialty occupation classification.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, the employer must file the LCA with DOL before your consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so the process moves without delays caused by first-time employer errors.
Clarify sponsorship early in recruiter conversations
Operations roles often attract candidates from multiple countries, and recruiters frequently conflate E-3 with H-1B visa. Stating upfront that the E-3 has no lottery and no cap, and costs the employer significantly less than H-1B, removes the most common reason hiring managers hesitate.
Prepare for intent questions at your consulate interview
Consular officers assess nonimmigrant intent for E-3 applicants. For a Service Operations Manager role, be ready to articulate the specific operational scope of your position and how your Australian degree maps to the responsibilities, not just your job title.
E-3 Visa Service Operations Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Service Operations Manager jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 visa sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see employers who are open to sponsoring the E-3, which saves you from applying to companies that only know the H-1B process or don't understand the E-3 is a separate, simpler pathway.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Service Operations Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but the job description matters as much as the title. USCIS looks for roles that normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as business administration, operations management, or supply chain. A generalist description that accepts any degree may not satisfy the specialty occupation standard, so the offer letter wording is critical.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for a Service Operations Manager position?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and has no annual lottery, no cap, and a lower cost burden for employers than the H-1B. For operations roles, this means your employer doesn't need to wait for a lottery result in April before extending a firm offer. The E-3 is filed directly with the consulate after DOL certifies the LCA, which is a significantly faster path.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Service Operations Manager?
Yes, but you need a new LCA and a new E-3 visa stamp from a U.S. consulate before starting with the new employer. Unlike some other visa categories, the E-3 doesn't allow you to begin working for a new company while the paperwork is pending. Plan the transition carefully to avoid a gap in authorized employment status.
