Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Head Of Business Operations
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
Your Australian bachelor's degree in business, commerce, or management satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation requirement. Make sure your resume and credentials clearly state your field of study, since vague degree descriptions can slow LCA certification with DOL.
Target companies with existing visa infrastructure
Search for employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications before. Companies with established HR compliance teams are far more likely to move quickly on E-3 sponsorship than those encountering the process for the first time.
Address dual intent concerns before your interview
Operations leadership roles can attract extra consular scrutiny because hiring managers sometimes assume senior hires want permanent residency. Prepare a clear, specific account of your professional plans that demonstrates genuine nonimmigrant intent without ruling out future pathways.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for post-offer paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. This avoids delays from employers unfamiliar with DOL's FLAG portal requirements and gets your consulate appointment scheduled faster.
Clarify who owns the LCA filing with your employer
The employer must file the LCA with DOL before you can apply at the consulate. Confirm early in the offer negotiation whether their legal team or HR will handle this, and request a realistic timeline so your start date aligns with visa approval.
Negotiate a start date that accounts for consulate wait times
E-3 consulate appointment wait times in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth vary by season. Build at least four to six weeks into your start date after the LCA is certified, and confirm whether your employer needs you to enter on E-3 or can support a change of status.

Find Head Of Business Operations JobsHead Of Business Operations E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Head of Business Operations jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search, as it filters roles by employers who have active E-3 sponsorship history. General job boards don't surface visa sponsorship status reliably, which means you can spend weeks applying to roles where the employer has never filed an LCA. Focusing your search on companies with a documented track record of E-3 filings saves significant time.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Head of Business Operations role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, operations management, or a related discipline. The key is that the degree must be a minimum requirement for the role, not merely preferred. Roles where any degree suffices, regardless of field, are harder to support under the specialty occupation standard.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for this type of role?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap, so you can apply at any time of year as long as you have a qualifying job offer and a certified LCA. The H-1B requires entering a random lottery with only a roughly 25 to 30 percent selection rate for most registrants. For Australian professionals in operations leadership, the E-3 is a substantially more reliable path to U.S. employment.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 visa in a Head of Business Operations role?
Yes, but you need to restart the process with your new employer. The new company must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp unless you're changing status from within the U.S. There's no portability provision like some other visa categories, so timing your transition carefully relative to your current visa expiry matters.
