Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Assistant Director
Align your credentials with specialty occupation standards
Your Australian bachelor's degree must directly relate to the Assistant Director role, not just to management broadly. Gather official transcripts and a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before approaching U.S. employers.
Target employers with established LCA filing history
Universities, nonprofits, film studios, and healthcare systems regularly file Labor Condition Applications for director-level roles. Search the DOL OFLC disclosure data to confirm a prospective employer has certified LCAs in your occupation before investing time in applications.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to streamline your process
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. Most employers unfamiliar with the E-3 appreciate a candidate who arrives with a clear filing plan already in hand.
Address your degree field mismatch proactively
Assistant Director roles span multiple industries, so a degree in arts administration, communications, or education may qualify depending on the employer's sector. Document how your specific coursework directly prepared you for the supervisory and operational duties in the job description.
Plan your consulate appointment around your start date
E-3 consular processing in Australia typically takes two to four weeks after LCA certification. Confirm your intended start date with your employer before booking, so your DS-160 submission and Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth appointment align with your offer letter timeline.

Find Assistant Director JobsAssistant Director E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Assistant Director jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to filter Assistant Director roles by employers that sponsor E-3 visas. Many postings don't advertise sponsorship explicitly, but organisations in higher education, film production, nonprofits, and healthcare regularly file LCAs for director-level positions. Filtering by E-3 history saves you from applying to employers who've never navigated the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000â$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Assistant Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. An Assistant Director role in a university, nonprofit, or production company typically meets the specialty occupation threshold. Roles where any degree is accepted, regardless of field, are harder to qualify. Your job offer letter should specify the required degree field clearly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Assistant Director positions?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any time of year and expect a decision within weeks, not months. The H-1B requires entering a lottery with roughly 25% selection odds and waiting until October 1 to start work. For Australian nationals in director-level roles, the E-3 is a faster and more predictable path.
Can I change employers or switch industry sectors on an E-3 as an Assistant Director?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp if you travel internationally before starting the new role. Changing sectors, say from film production to higher education, is fine as long as your degree still aligns with the new role's specialty occupation requirements.
