Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Education And Training
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
U.S. consular officers assess whether your Education or Training role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. A generalist teaching credential alone may not satisfy this. Document how your degree field directly maps to your job duties.
Target employers with established LCA filing histories
Universities, corporate learning and development teams, and edtech companies file Labor Condition Applications regularly. Searching DOL's OFLC disclosure data by job title filters for employers already familiar with the E-3 visa sponsorship process.
Clarify your Australian degree equivalency upfront
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes. Raise this with your prospective employer early so they don't reject your candidacy over a misunderstood credential difference.
Ask hiring managers about LCA lead times before accepting
The DOL must certify your LCA before you can schedule a consulate appointment. This typically takes seven business days, but delays happen. Confirm your employer understands this step is their responsibility, not yours, before signing an offer.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end support
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA filing, I-129 preparation, and consulate appointment documentation. This is especially useful for Education roles where job duty descriptions must precisely satisfy specialty occupation criteria.
Prepare documentation that ties your role to your degree field
For roles like instructional designer or curriculum developer, bring your official transcripts, a detailed employer job description, and any professional certifications to your consulate interview. Consular officers frequently probe the degree-to-role connection in Education and Training cases.
E-3 Visa Education And Training: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Education and Training jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Education and Training roles with confirmed E-3 sponsorship. Many employers in this sector, including universities, corporate L&D teams, and edtech companies, sponsor the E-3 but don't advertise it explicitly. Filtering by sponsorship history saves you from applying to roles where you'll need to educate the employer from scratch.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Do Education and Training roles qualify as specialty occupations for the E-3?
Most do, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field like education, instructional design, or a subject discipline. Roles such as postsecondary instructor, curriculum developer, and corporate trainer typically qualify. Generalist roles where any degree suffices are harder to support and can attract consular scrutiny.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian educators and trainers?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no random selection. The H-1B visa requires registration in a lottery with a roughly 25% selection rate. For Australian Education and Training professionals, the E-3 is a direct path that doesn't depend on chance, and you can apply at any time of year.
Can I change Education employers or roles while on an E-3?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if you're outside the U.S. or file an amended petition if you're changing status inside the country. Your E-3 status is tied to a specific employer and job description, so a significant change in duties, even with the same employer, may require an amendment.
