Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Tutor
Match your degree to the subject area
Tutoring roles qualify as specialty occupations when the position requires a degree in a specific field, such as mathematics, science, or English. A general education degree may not satisfy the requirement if the role is subject-specific, so align your credentials to the job description before applying.
Target institutions that file LCAs regularly
Universities, community colleges, and K-12 school districts with established international hiring processes already understand the LCA filing requirement. These employers are less likely to stall when you raise E-3 sponsorship, compared to private tutoring companies encountering the process for the first time.
Find E-3 tutor roles through Migrate Mate
Searching broadly for tutoring jobs wastes time on employers unfamiliar with the E-3. Use Migrate Mate to filter for education roles with E-3 sponsorship history, so your applications go to employers who have already navigated the process.
Prepare your credential equivalency documentation early
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes, but you may need a credential evaluation letter. Have one prepared before you reach the offer stage so it doesn't delay your LCA filing.
Clarify sponsorship before accepting an offer
Ask directly whether the employer will file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL on your behalf. Some tutoring employers confuse E-3 sponsorship with a simple letter of support. Confirm they understand the LCA is a DOL filing requirement, not an optional formality, before you sign anything.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the LCA submission to the DOL, prepares your visa application, and handles consulate preparation so neither you nor your employer needs to navigate the process from scratch.

Find Tutor JobsTutor E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find tutor jobs in the U.S. that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for tutoring and education roles filtered by E-3 sponsorship. Because many tutoring employers, especially smaller private providers, are unfamiliar with the E-3 process, focusing your search on employers with a track record of sponsoring Australian workers significantly improves your chances of a smooth hiring experience.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a tutor role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. A tutoring role that requires a degree in mathematics, science, or English literature qualifies. Roles where any degree is acceptable, or where equivalent experience substitutes for a degree, are more likely to face scrutiny from a consular officer assessing specialty occupation status.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian tutors?
The E-3 is considerably more practical for Australian tutors. There is no annual lottery, so you don't wait on random selection each April. The 10,500 annual allocation has never been exhausted, meaning you can apply at any point in the year once you have a job offer and a certified LCA. The H-1B requires lottery registration, has an 85,000 annual cap, and involves a much longer timeline.
Can I tutor students independently on an E-3 visa, or do I need a single employer?
The E-3 ties you to a specific employer named on your LCA and visa. Working independently as a self-employed tutor does not qualify, and taking on students outside your sponsoring employer's arrangement puts your status at risk. If you want to work for multiple tutoring organizations, each one must file a separate LCA and be listed as a concurrent employer on your visa documentation.
