Align your credentials to specialty occupation
Your Australian bachelor's degree must directly relate to ERP consulting, not just IT broadly. A degree in information systems, accounting, or business with a technology focus maps cleanly. A general commerce degree may require a credential evaluation to satisfy the DOL's specialty occupation standard.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
ERP implementations run through consulting firms, SIs, and large enterprise IT departments. Filter your search to employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for ERP or systems analyst roles before. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service surfaces this data so you can prioritize employers already familiar with the process.
Clarify end-client placement before accepting an offer
Many ERP Consultant roles involve third-party worksite placements at a client site. The LCA must list the actual work location, not just the consulting firm's address. Confirm your employer will update the LCA if your placement address changes during the engagement.
Use your E-3 status to switch ERP platforms freely
Unlike H-1B, the E-3 has no lottery, so you can change employers or move from one ERP ecosystem to another without waiting for a new cap cycle. Your new employer files a fresh LCA and you attend a consulate appointment rather than waiting on USCIS adjudication.
Document project scope in your offer letter
Consular officers review the offer letter alongside the LCA to confirm specialty occupation. Ask your employer to describe the specific ERP modules, implementation phases, and degree-level skills required. Vague letters citing only 'IT consulting' draw more scrutiny than letters specifying SAP S/4HANA or Oracle Cloud configuration work.
File the LCA before your consulate appointment
DOL must certify your LCA before you can attend your visa interview. Certification typically takes seven business days, but delays occur when the employer's wage level or job description is queried. Build at least two weeks between LCA submission and your consulate booking to avoid rescheduling.

Find ERP Consultant JobsERP Consultant E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find ERP Consultant jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to find ERP Consultant roles filtered by E-3 visa sponsorship. Many consulting firms and enterprise technology teams sponsor E-3 visas but don't advertise it explicitly in job postings. Migrate Mate identifies employers with LCA filing history for ERP and systems analyst roles, so you can focus your applications on employers already set up to sponsor you.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an ERP Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as information systems, computer science, accounting, or business information technology. Generic IT support roles don't meet the standard, but ERP implementations involving configuration, integration, or solution architecture for platforms like SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics consistently qualify. Your offer letter and LCA need to reflect the degree requirement explicitly.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for ERP Consultants?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens but has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply at any time of year and change employers freely. H-1B requires winning a random lottery before you can even file a petition. For ERP Consultants who work across multiple client engagements or want flexibility to move between firms, the E-3's employer-change process, which requires only a new LCA and consulate appointment, is significantly faster than H-1B transfers.
What happens to my E-3 status if I'm placed at a client site rather than my employer's office?
Your LCA must list the actual worksite address where you'll be performing ERP consulting work. If you're placed at a client location, your employer needs to file an LCA for that address before you start work there. Failing to update the LCA when your placement changes is a compliance issue under DOL rules and can create problems at your next E-3 renewal.
