E-3 Visa VP Engineering Jobs
VP Engineering roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, making it a more reliable path to U.S. employment than the H-1B for Australian engineering leaders.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a VP Engineering
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 specialty occupation purposes. Get a formal credential evaluation before interviews so employers can confirm your qualifications meet USCIS requirements without delay.
Target companies with existing E-3 filing history
Search DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify employers who have filed E-3 LCAs for engineering leadership roles. Companies with a filing history already understand the process, which removes a major friction point at the offer stage.
Clarify the VP title scope early in interviews
U.S. VP Engineering titles vary widely between companies. Some are individual-contributor architects; others lead 200-person orgs. Confirm the role requires a specific technical or management degree field before offer, since the LCA specialty occupation justification depends on the actual job duties.
Get your LCA filed before your start date locks in
The DOL must certify the LCA before you can attend your consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so the employer's HR team doesn't become a bottleneck on your timeline.
Negotiate for the employer to cover government filing fees
E-3 sponsorship costs are modest compared to H-1B, but government fees apply. At the VP level, you have leverage to request the employer covers the LCA and consular application fees as part of your offer package, which is standard practice for senior hires.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at the consulate
VP-level candidates sometimes face closer scrutiny on nonimmigrant intent because of their seniority. Have a clear, factual account of your ties to Australia and the defined scope of the U.S. role ready before your interview at the Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth consulate.

Find VP Engineering JobsVP Engineering E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find VP Engineering jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. Standard job platforms don't filter by visa type, so you end up applying to companies that have never sponsored an E-3. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with active sponsorship history so your search is focused on realistic opportunities from the start.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a VP Engineering role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. A VP Engineering role qualifies when the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field such as computer science, software engineering, or electrical engineering. The key is that the degree requirement must be tied to the actual duties of the role, not just listed as a preference. If the job description says a degree is preferred rather than required, the LCA may face scrutiny during DOL review.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for a VP Engineering role?
For an Australian national, the E-3 is significantly more practical than the H-1B for a VP Engineering role. The H-1B requires entering a randomized lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate, meaning most applicants aren't selected regardless of qualifications. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so an employer can sponsor you any time of year as soon as a role is confirmed. The application process is also faster, with no petition filing required before your consulate appointment.
Can I change employers after starting a VP Engineering role on an E-3?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific, meaning you need a new LCA and a new visa stamp for each employer. If you're already in the U.S. on an E-3 and accept a new VP Engineering offer, your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL before you begin work. You'll also need to either apply for a change of status with USCIS or obtain a new E-3 stamp at an Australian consulate before returning to the U.S.
