Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Project Management Consultant
Translate your credentials for U.S. employers
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 visa specialty occupation purposes. Get a credential evaluation before interviews so employers aren't raising this question during offer negotiations.
Target firms with active LCA filing histories
Management consulting firms and large enterprise clients that have filed Labor Condition Applications before move faster through E-3 sponsorship. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for project management or management consultant LCA filings to identify experienced sponsors.
Frame your role as a specialty occupation early
E-3 requires the position to theoretically and practically require a degree in a specific field. When discussing the role with hiring managers, confirm the job description specifies a degree requirement, not just a preference, before the LCA is drafted.
Negotiate your start date around LCA processing
DOL typically certifies LCAs within seven working days, but your employer needs that certified LCA before your consulate appointment. Build at least three weeks of buffer between your offer acceptance and your proposed start date to avoid rescheduling delays.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This is especially useful for consulting roles where project scope or client site details complicate the LCA's worksite and wage entries.
Confirm E-3 status transfers cleanly between contracts
If your consulting role shifts to a new client engagement or project after you're in the U.S., check with your employer whether a new LCA is required. Material changes to job duties or worksite can trigger a fresh E-3 filing even mid-status.
E-3 Visa Project Management Consultant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Project Management Consultant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Project Management Consultant roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship, filtering out positions that only consider candidates with existing work authorization. This saves significant time compared to applying broadly and discovering sponsorship limitations late in the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Project Management Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the job description requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, engineering, or project management. The key is the word 'required' rather than 'preferred' in the posting. Generic management roles that accept any degree field are more vulnerable to a specialty occupation challenge at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Project Management Consultants?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap that affects most applicants, so you can apply any time of year and start work within weeks of approval. H-1B visa registrations for the same role are subject to an annual lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate, meaning identical qualifications may wait years for authorization under H-1B but can proceed immediately under E-3.
Can I change consulting employers or projects while on E-3 status?
You can change employers, but the new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. if you travel internationally. A shift to a substantially different project scope or client worksite within the same employer may also require an amended LCA filing with DOL before the change takes effect.
