Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Payroll Manager
Translate your Australian payroll credentials
USCIS evaluates your degree against U.S. specialty occupation standards. A three-year Australian bachelor's in accounting or HR is generally accepted as equivalent, but bring certified transcripts and a credential evaluation to your consulate appointment.
Target employers with multi-state payroll operations
Companies processing payroll across multiple U.S. states need Payroll Managers who understand complex compliance environments. These employers file LCAs more routinely and are familiar with sponsorship requirements, reducing friction when you raise the E-3 visa conversation.
Use Migrate Mate to identify E-3 sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to find Payroll Manager roles at companies with active E-3 or H-1B visa filing history. Employers already in the DOL system for LCA filings are significantly easier to convert to E-3 sponsors than those approaching it for the first time.
Raise the E-3 before the offer stage
Introduce your visa status during the final interview, not after you receive the written offer. Frame it as a straightforward process: the employer files an LCA with the DOL, you attend a consulate appointment in Australia, and you can start within weeks.
Verify your employer can meet prevailing wage
Your LCA must certify the role meets DOL prevailing wage for the relevant SOC code and location. For Payroll Managers, verify the offered salary meets or exceeds the DOL wage level before the employer submits the LCA to avoid delays or amendments.
Let Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handle your LCA
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage your LCA submission, visa paperwork, and consulate preparation. Errors in the LCA wage attestation or job duties description are the most common cause of delays for Payroll Manager applications.
E-3 Visa Payroll Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Payroll Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Payroll Manager roles filtered by E-3 sponsorship history. Employers with established DOL LCA filing records are far easier to work with than those new to the process. Payroll Manager positions at mid-to-large enterprises, shared services centers, and payroll outsourcing firms are your strongest targets because they run structured hiring and compliance programs.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Payroll Manager role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes. Payroll Manager is classified under SOC code 11-3131 and typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field. USCIS looks for a direct connection between your degree and the role's duties. If your employer's job description specifies degree requirements in a relevant field, the specialty occupation standard is straightforward to satisfy.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Payroll Managers?
The E-3 is available year-round with no lottery, no annual cap, and no registration fee. H-1B registration opens once per year in March and carries a roughly 25 percent selection rate for most applicants. For Australian Payroll Managers, the E-3 means you can accept an offer and be working in the U.S. within weeks rather than waiting up to 18 months for an H-1B to take effect.
Can I transfer my E-3 if I change payroll employers in the U.S.?
Yes, but the process restarts with the new employer. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if your current stamp has expired, which requires returning to a U.S. consulate. You can begin work for the new employer once the LCA is certified and your new E-3 petition is filed, as long as your I-94 status remains valid.
