Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Head Of Business Development
Frame your credentials for specialty occupation
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but your employer's LCA must tie the Head of Business Development role to that specific field of study. Bring your academic transcripts and a credential evaluation letter to the offer stage.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway for employers who have filed LCAs for business development or strategy roles. Repeated filings signal a sponsorship-ready HR and legal team, which shortens your time from offer to visa approval.
Address the specialty occupation question early
Business development roles get challenged at the consulate when job duties blend general management with sales. Ask your prospective employer to confirm the position requires a degree in a specific field, not just any bachelor's degree, before you accept an offer.
Negotiate LCA filing into your offer timeline
DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but your employer needs lead time to prepare the prevailing wage documentation. Push for the LCA to be filed within two weeks of signing your offer letter so your consulate appointment isn't delayed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end support
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork from start to consulate appointment. This matters most for Head of Business Development roles, where specialty occupation documentation requires precision to avoid a 221(g) administrative hold.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at interview
E-3 visa holders aren't barred from pursuing a green card, but consular officers will probe your ties to Australia. Have specific answers ready about your Australian professional network, property, or family commitments to demonstrate genuine nonimmigrant intent alongside your U.S. career plans.

Find Head Of Business Development JobsHead Of Business Development E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Head of Business Development jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to find Head of Business Development roles at U.S. employers with confirmed E-3 sponsorship history. Most general job boards don't filter by visa type, so you end up cold-applying to roles where the hiring team has never heard of the E-3. Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have already filed LCAs, which cuts out that uncertainty entirely.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Head of Business Development role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3?
Yes, provided the employer can demonstrate the position normally requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, commerce, marketing, or a related discipline. Roles that accept any degree in any field, or that treat the degree as a preference rather than a requirement, can fail the specialty occupation test at the consulate. Your offer letter and job description should specify the required field of study explicitly.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for Head of Business Development roles?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so your employer can file any time of year and you can start as soon as your visa is approved. The H-1B lottery selects only around one in four registrants, and cap-subject petitions can only begin employment on October 1. For a senior role like Head of Business Development, the E-3's predictability is a significant practical advantage.
Can I change employers or get promoted while on an E-3?
You can change employers, but each new position requires a fresh LCA and a new E-3 visa stamp before you start. A promotion within the same company to a materially different role, such as moving from regional to global scope, also typically requires a new LCA to reflect the updated job duties and prevailing wage. Plan for a two-to-four-week LCA certification window before any transition.
