Align your credentials to specialty occupation
Your Australian degree must tie directly to the marketing role, a business or communications degree supports most positions, but a general arts degree may not. Get your academic transcripts ready and, if your degree title is ambiguous, prepare a credential equivalency statement before applying.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for marketing titles. Employers already familiar with the LCA process move faster and are less likely to back out after an offer.
Negotiate the offer before LCA timing locks in
The LCA certifies your job title, worksite, and prevailing wage level, changes after certification can require a new filing. Lock in your title, location, and compensation before your employer submits, so you don't lose weeks to an amended application.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This is especially useful for marketing roles at smaller employers who haven't sponsored E-3 visas before and lack an in-house immigration team.
Book your consulate appointment immediately after LCA certification
DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days. Book your consulate slot the same day certification comes through, Sydney and Melbourne appointment availability shifts quickly, and delays here push your start date further than any other part of the process.
E-3 Visa Marketing Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Marketing Specialist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. It filters jobs by employers with a history of sponsoring Australian workers, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the E-3 process. That targeting makes a meaningful difference in response rates for marketing roles, where hiring managers often don't know the visa's advantages over H-1B.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Marketing Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, marketing, communications, business, or a related discipline. The risk arises when a job description is written broadly enough that any degree would satisfy it, which can undermine the specialty occupation argument at the consulate. A tightly scoped job description tied to a specific degree field strengthens the case significantly.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for Marketing Specialist roles?
The E-3 has no lottery, no annual cap, and can be filed year-round, none of which is true for H-1B. For marketing roles, this means you and your employer can time the application around an actual hire rather than waiting for an April lottery result. The employer's cost and administrative burden are also substantially lower, which removes a common objection in marketing hiring where headcount budgets are tight.
Can I change employers or get promoted while on an E-3?
You can change employers, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA before you start. There's no portability provision the way there is with certain H-1B transfers. A promotion that changes your job title or worksite location may also require an amended LCA, even with the same employer. Plan your timeline so any role or employer change doesn't create an authorization gap.
