Translate your degree for U.S. employers
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees satisfy the E-3 visa specialty occupation requirement, but some hiring managers assume a four-year degree is mandatory. Have your credentials evaluated by a USCIS-recognized credential assessment service before interviews start.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have previously filed LCAs for software or integration roles. Prior LCA activity signals the employer already understands the E-3 process and won't stall at sponsorship paperwork.
Use Migrate Mate to find and file efficiently
Search Migrate Mate for Integration Developer roles filtered by E-3 sponsorship history, then use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer. It removes the coordination burden between you, your employer, and the DOL.
Clarify your SOC code with the hiring team
Integration Developer roles can be classified under multiple Standard Occupational Classification codes depending on whether the work is API development, middleware engineering, or systems integration. The SOC code on your LCA must match your actual duties, so align this with your employer before they file.
Prepare documentation for multi-vendor work environments
If your role involves deploying integrations across client sites or third-party platforms, consular officers may ask for clarification on your primary worksite. Have your employer include a clear duties letter that describes the integration scope and where the work is performed.
Request the LCA before your consulate appointment date
The DOL typically certifies LCAs within seven business days, but the certified LCA must be in hand before your visa interview. Confirm your employer has submitted and received certification with enough lead time to book your consulate appointment without a gap.
E-3 Visa Integration Developer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Integration Developer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Integration Developer roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Standard job boards don't filter by visa type, so you end up screening dozens of roles manually. Migrate Mate surfaces positions by sponsorship history, saving you from pursuing employers who won't sponsor before you've invested time in their process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Integration Developer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as computer science, information systems, or software engineering. Roles that accept any degree regardless of field may not satisfy the specialty occupation standard. Your job offer letter and the LCA must describe duties that tie directly to that degree requirement, so generic job titles need supporting documentation from the employer.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Integration Developer roles?
The E-3 has a 10,500-visa annual allocation that has never been exhausted, so there's no lottery and no waiting period. H-1B visa requires entering a random selection process each April, with results taking months and no guarantee of a slot. For Integration Developers with Australian citizenship, the E-3 means you can accept an offer and file any time of year, typically starting work within weeks of your consulate appointment.
Can I change employers after starting work on an E-3 as an Integration Developer?
You can change employers, but the E-3 is employer-specific, meaning your current visa is tied to the company that filed your LCA. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before or shortly after starting. There's no formal portability provision like AC21 for H-1B, so timing the transition carefully around your consulate availability matters.
