Translate your Australian degree for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 visa specialty occupation purposes. Get a credential evaluation letter ready before interviews so employers don't flag it as a hiring risk.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway for employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for product management roles. Prior LCA activity signals the employer already understands the E-3 process and won't stall on sponsorship logistics.
Frame your E-3 status as a fast-track advantage
Unlike H-1B visa, the E-3 requires no lottery and can be filed at any time of year. When recruiters raise visa concerns, clarify that your sponsorship timeline is weeks, not months, and that there's no cap risk to the employer.
Confirm your job description meets specialty occupation standards
Your offer letter must describe IT Product Manager duties that require a specific bachelor's degree field, not just 'any degree.' Roles framed around general management or business strategy without a technical requirement can fail USCIS specialty occupation review.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, your employer's LCA must be certified by DOL before you can schedule your consulate appointment. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, reducing delays from first-time employer confusion.
Prepare for dual intent scrutiny at your consulate interview
E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers will probe your intent to return to Australia. Have a clear answer about your ties and career goals rather than leaving it open-ended, vague responses on this point are a common cause of administrative processing.
E-3 Visa IT Product Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find IT Product Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface U.S. employers open to E-3 sponsorship for Australian professionals. Standard job boards don't filter by visa type, so you end up applying to roles where sponsorship was never on the table. Searching on Migrate Mate lets you target IT Product Manager openings where E-3 is already an understood and accepted pathway.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an IT Product Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as computer science, information systems, engineering, or business. The key is that the degree must be tied directly to the job duties. Generalist management roles without a technical degree requirement can face USCIS scrutiny, so the offer letter language matters significantly.
How does E-3 sponsorship compare to H-1B for IT Product Manager roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap, so you can start at any time of year and your employer faces no selection risk. H-1B registrations are entered into a lottery each March with results determined by chance. For an IT Product Manager offer in hand, the E-3 path is faster, more predictable, and requires the same core employer steps: an LCA filing and a consulate appointment.
Can I change employers or get promoted after my E-3 is approved?
A promotion within the same company that changes your job title or duties significantly requires a new LCA and potentially a new visa stamp at renewal. Changing employers always requires a new E-3 application, including a fresh LCA filed by the new employer. You can begin working for the new employer once the new LCA is certified and your visa documentation is updated, but you cannot carry over your existing E-3 status the way some other visa holders can.
