Verify your ARRT certification transfers correctly
U.S. employers require ARRT certification in Mammography (M) or at minimum Radiography (R). Confirm your Australian qualifications map to ARRT eligibility before applying, since sponsors won't file an LCA for a role you can't legally perform on day one.
Target hospital systems over private imaging clinics
Large hospital networks and academic medical centers have dedicated HR and legal teams familiar with E-3 visa sponsorship. Smaller imaging clinics often lack the internal infrastructure to file an LCA with DOL, even when they're keen to hire you.
Use Migrate Mate to streamline your LCA filing
Once you have an offer, the LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment can proceed. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so the process doesn't stall between offer and start date.
Address your credential timeline upfront with hiring managers
If you're still completing ARRT eligibility documentation, tell the hiring manager during your first interview. Employers who understand the E-3 process can structure your start date around DOL certification timelines, typically two to four weeks for LCA approval.
Search for roles on Migrate Mate with E-3 sponsorship filters
Generic job searches surface roles without sponsorship history. Migrate Mate filters specifically for employers who have sponsored E-3 visas, saving you from applying to imaging centers that will decline once they learn you need visa support.
Prepare a consulate-ready employment verification package
Your consulate officer will expect the certified LCA, your employer's support letter, and proof of your qualifying degree and ARRT certification. Assembling these before your appointment date avoids delays that can push your start date back by weeks.
E-3 Visa Mammography Technologist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Mammography Technologist jobs that offer E-3 sponsorship?
Search on Migrate Mate, which filters roles specifically by E-3 sponsorship history. Most general job boards don't surface sponsorship eligibility, so you end up applying to employers who won't support the visa. Migrate Mate shows you imaging centers and hospital networks that have actively sponsored Australians, cutting out the guesswork before you invest time in applications.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does Mammography Technologist qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. The role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in radiologic technology or a closely related field, which meets the E-3 specialty occupation definition. USCIS also recognizes that ARRT certification, which presupposes qualifying education, supports the specialty occupation claim. Your employer documents this on the LCA filed with DOL before your consulate appointment.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Mammography Technologist roles?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no multi-year wait. The H-1B runs a randomized lottery each spring, and selection isn't guaranteed even with a strong application. For Australian mammography techs, the E-3 is a direct path that can move from job offer to consulate appointment in a matter of weeks.
Can I switch employers after starting work on an E-3 in the U.S.?
Yes, but you need a new LCA certified by DOL and updated visa documentation tied to the new employer before you begin work. The E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't simply transfer it the way some other visa categories allow. Plan for a two-to-four-week DOL processing window when negotiating your start date with a new hospital or imaging center.
