E-3 Visa OT Jobs
OT jobs in the U.S. qualify as E-3 specialty occupations when the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in occupational therapy. Australian OTs can secure E-3 visa sponsorship without entering a lottery, and your AHPRA registration and clinical hours transfer directly into the credentialing process American employers expect.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an OT
Verify your NBCOT credential before applying
U.S. hospitals and rehab networks require NBCOT certification before they'll initiate E-3 sponsorship. Sit the CBOT exam while still in Australia so your credential is active when you enter offer negotiations, not after.
Target inpatient rehab facilities and SNFs first
Skilled nursing facilities and inpatient rehab units face chronic OT shortages, making them far more willing to sponsor than outpatient clinics. Search by facility type, not just job title, to find employers already familiar with the E-3 process.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your visa application can proceed. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so nothing stalls between offer acceptance and your consulate appointment.
Clarify state licensure timing with your employer
Each U.S. state issues its own OT license, and some won't process your application until you have a Social Security Number. Confirm whether your employer will support a temporary permit or supervision arrangement while full licensure is pending.
Find OT roles with E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters specifically for employers open to E-3 sponsorship, saving you from applying to roles where the hiring team has never heard of the visa. Search by specialty area to surface pediatric, hand therapy, or acute care postings directly.
Request an amended LCA if your work setting changes
If your employer reassigns you to a new facility or patient population after your E-3 is approved, DOL may require an amended LCA reflecting the updated worksite. Flag any setting change to your employer before it happens, not after.

Find OT JobsOT E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find OT jobs in the U.S. that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search on Migrate Mate, which filters roles specifically for employers open to E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't flag visa sponsorship type, so you end up applying to positions where the employer has no experience with the E-3 process. Migrate Mate surfaces OT postings by specialty so you can target inpatient rehab, pediatrics, or hand therapy directly.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Is the E-3 visa better than the H-1B for Australian OTs?
For Australian OTs, the E-3 is a straightforward path that avoids the H-1B lottery entirely. The H-1B is capped at 85,000 per year and selected by random draw, so a qualified OT can be rejected through no fault of their own. The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been exhausted, so approval depends on your qualifications and your employer's paperwork, not chance.
Does my Australian OT degree satisfy the E-3 specialty occupation requirement?
Australian bachelor's degrees in occupational therapy are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 purposes. The role itself must require a relevant bachelor's degree as a minimum entry requirement, which OT consistently does. If your degree is a three-year Australian bachelor's, a credential evaluation from a USCIS-recognised agency confirms equivalency for the consular officer.
Can my E-3 employer change my work location after I arrive in the U.S.?
Your E-3 is tied to the job and employer named in the Labor Condition Application, but location changes within the same metropolitan statistical area don't always require a new LCA. Moving to a different city or region typically does require an amended filing. Your employer needs to notify DOL before any significant worksite change, so raise this before you accept a reassignment.
