E-3 Visa Pediatric Registered Nurse Jobs
Pediatric Registered Nurse roles in the U.S. qualify as E-3 specialty occupations when the position requires a BSN or higher. Australian nurses can secure E-3 visa sponsorship without entering a lottery, with employers filing a Labor Condition Application before your consulate appointment. NCLEX registration and state nursing licensure are prerequisites most hospitals confirm before extending an offer.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Pediatric Registered Nurse
Get your NCLEX and state license first
U.S. hospitals won't initiate E-3 visa sponsorship until you hold an active RN license in their state. Apply through your target state's nursing board early, processing can take three to six months for internationally trained applicants.
Target children's hospitals with pediatric ICU units
Facilities running dedicated NICU, PICU, or pediatric oncology units sponsor E-3 nurses far more routinely than general hospitals. Search DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway for certified LCAs filed under pediatric nursing job titles to confirm which employers are active sponsors.
Confirm your BSN satisfies specialty occupation requirements
USCIS requires that a bachelor's degree in a specific field is normally the minimum for the role. An Australian three-year nursing degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. BSN, but ask your employer's HR team to document this equivalency in the LCA.
Ask about E-3 before the offer letter stage
Raise E-3 sponsorship during the final interview round, not after you receive an offer. Some pediatric nursing hiring managers conflate E-3 with H-1B visa and assume a lottery is involved. Clarifying upfront prevents delays when the hospital's legal or HR team begins LCA filing.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and consulate prep
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the DOL Labor Condition Application, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end. This matters for nurses whose start date is tied to a specific hospital onboarding cycle, since LCA certification typically takes seven business days.
Coordinate your visa timing with hospital credentialing
U.S. pediatric hospitals run credentialing checks, background, immunisation records, and skills verification, that can take four to eight weeks after your hire date. Time your E-3 consulate appointment so your visa is approved before credentialing completes, not after.
E-3 Visa Pediatric Registered Nurse: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Pediatric Registered Nurse jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Pediatric Registered Nurse roles filtered by E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't distinguish between visa types, so you can't tell which postings reflect genuine E-3 willingness. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with active LCA filing history for nursing roles, which is the most reliable signal that a hospital will sponsor your E-3.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Pediatric Registered Nurse role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. USCIS recognises RN roles as specialty occupations when the position requires at minimum a BSN. Pediatric nursing units, including NICU, PICU, and pediatric oncology, consistently meet this standard. Your employer documents this in the Labor Condition Application, certifying that a degree in nursing is a normal requirement for the specific role you've been offered.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian pediatric nurses?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so your employer can file at any time and you can start work as soon as your visa is approved. The H-1B is capped at 85,000 per year with a randomised selection process, meaning most applicants wait over a year or aren't selected at all. For Australian nurses, the E-3 is the direct path.
Can I transfer my E-3 if I change pediatric nursing employers in the U.S.?
Yes, but you need a new LCA certified for the new employer before you start work. Your new hospital files a fresh Labor Condition Application with the DOL, and you'll typically need a new E-3 visa stamp if your current one is tied to the previous employer. Some nurses handle this at a U.S. consulate during a trip home to Australia rather than applying stateside.
