Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Urologist
Verify your FRACS credentials transfer correctly
U.S. employers require ECFMG certification and completion of an ACGME-accredited urology residency or equivalent. Confirm your Australian fellowship credentials map to U.S. board eligibility standards before applying, so sponsorship conversations don't stall at credentialing.
Target academic medical centers with J-1 alumni
Urology programs at institutions that previously hosted J-1 exchange visitors are already familiar with foreign-trained physician sponsorship. Those departments have credentialing infrastructure in place and are less likely to reject your application purely on visa process concerns.
Separate state medical licensure from your E-3 timeline
Your E-3 visa doesn't require an active U.S. medical license to be filed, but your employer will need one before your start date. Initiate the state licensure application in parallel with LCA filing to avoid a gap between visa approval and your first day.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and paperwork
The LCA must be DOL-certified before your consulate appointment, and urology roles require precise SOC code selection to satisfy specialty occupation requirements. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, reducing the risk of a documentation error that delays your start.
Ask employers about their existing credentialing and visa counsel
Hospital systems with international physician recruitment programs often have in-house processes for LCA filing and visa document preparation. Confirming this early tells you how much of the administrative burden falls on you and whether you need independent filing support.
Plan your consulate appointment around your hospital start date
E-3 visa appointments at Australian consulates can book out several weeks. Once your LCA is certified and your DS-160 is complete, schedule your Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth appointment immediately so your visa stamp is in hand before your employment contract start date.

Find Urologist JobsUrologist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find urologist jobs in the U.S. with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended way to search for urologist roles with confirmed E-3 sponsorship. Many urology positions are filled through academic medical center recruitment pipelines or physician staffing networks that don't always advertise sponsorship availability publicly, so using a platform built specifically for E-3 job seekers saves significant time.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a urologist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Urology unambiguously meets the E-3 specialty occupation definition because the role theoretically and practically requires a medical degree and subspecialty fellowship training. USCIS consistently recognizes physician specialties as qualifying occupations. Your Australian medical degree, ECFMG certification, and urology fellowship credentials together satisfy the degree-in-a-specific-field requirement.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for urologists coming from Australia?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for Australian urologists. There's no lottery, no annual cap, and no registration window to miss. You can apply as soon as you have a job offer and a certified LCA, whereas H-1B requires lottery selection in April for an October start. For a role as in-demand as urology, the E-3 removes the single biggest uncertainty in the U.S. physician immigration process.
Can I transfer my E-3 if I switch urology employer or practice setting?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if you travel internationally before the transfer is complete. Moving from a hospital system to a private urology group, or between states, triggers a new LCA because prevailing wage levels and worksite locations are employer- and location-specific under DOL rules.
