Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Nurse Manager
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
Australian nursing degrees are assessed differently by U.S. state boards of nursing. Request a credential evaluation through a CGFNS-approved body before your job search so employers see a U.S.-equivalent qualification upfront, not a question mark.
Target health systems with active LCA filing history
Large hospital networks and multi-site health systems file Labor Condition Applications regularly. Search DOL's FLAG portal by SOC code 11-9111 to identify employers who've sponsored nurse management roles, then prioritise those organisations in your outreach.
Frame your management scope in U.S. terms
Australian Nurse Unit Manager titles don't always translate cleanly. Rewrite your resume to reflect U.S. equivalents, such as Nurse Manager or Clinical Nurse Manager, and quantify your unit size, budget oversight, and direct reports so hiring managers understand your scope immediately.
Clarify the specialty occupation standard with HR early
Some employers assume only clinical RN roles qualify for E-3 sponsorship. During initial conversations, confirm that Nurse Manager positions requiring a BSN as a standard entry requirement satisfy USCIS's specialty occupation definition, which they do.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, your employer must file an LCA with the DOL before your visa application proceeds. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA submission through consulate appointment, reducing delays that can cost you your start date.
Time your consulate appointment around your notice period
Most Australian consulates are processing E-3 appointments within a few weeks, but administrative processing can add time. Book your appointment as soon as the LCA is certified so your interview date aligns with your Australian notice period and your U.S. start date.

Find Nurse Manager JobsNurse Manager E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Nurse Manager jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Nurse Manager roles with confirmed E-3 sponsorship. Standard job boards rarely filter by visa type, so most searches return results that exclude or are unclear about sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers who have an established history of filing E-3 Labor Condition Applications, saving you from applying to positions where sponsorship isn't actually available.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Nurse Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as a minimum entry requirement, not just a preference. USCIS evaluates specialty occupation status based on whether a specific bachelor's degree in a relevant field is normally required for the role. Nurse Manager positions at accredited health systems and hospital networks consistently meet this standard because BSN completion is a baseline credential for the management function.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Australian Nurse Managers?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for Nurse Managers. The H-1B requires entering an annual lottery with no guaranteed selection, while the E-3 has a 10,500-annual allocation that has never been fully used, meaning you can apply any time of year once you have a job offer. The E-3 also renews indefinitely in two-year increments, so you're not subject to the H-1B's cap pressure on extensions.
Can I transfer my Australian AHPRA registration to a U.S. nursing licence for an E-3 application?
There is no direct transfer. You must apply for a U.S. RN licence in the state where you'll work, which requires sitting the NCLEX-RN examination regardless of your Australian registration status. Many states also require a credential evaluation through CGFNS or a comparable body. Your employer can proceed with the LCA filing while your licence application is in progress, but your visa cannot be issued until you hold a valid state RN licence.
