Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Speech Pathologist
Get your ASHA certification before applying
U.S. employers expect the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or confirmed eligibility for it. Start your application early, processing takes several weeks and you'll need it to satisfy state licensure requirements before your start date.
Target healthcare systems with E-3 hiring history
Search DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data for employers who have filed LCAs for Speech-Language Pathologist roles. Hospital networks, school districts, and rehabilitation groups that already understand the E-3 visa process move faster than employers filing their first LCA.
Use Migrate Mate to manage your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, your employer must file a certified LCA with the DOL before your consulate appointment can proceed. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so neither you nor your employer misses a compliance step.
Clarify state licensure timelines with your employer upfront
Every U.S. state issues its own SLP license, and some states take eight to twelve weeks to process applications from internationally trained applicants. Confirm your employer can delay your start date or offer a provisional arrangement while your license clears.
Address your three-year Australian degree proactively
Australian bachelor's degrees in speech pathology are typically three years, which can prompt questions about U.S. equivalency. Have a credentials evaluation completed before interviews so you can present documented equivalency alongside your transcript rather than explaining it under pressure.
Negotiate who files the LCA in your offer letter
The E-3 requires the employer to file the LCA, not you. Before signing an offer, confirm in writing that your employer will initiate the DOL filing. Some smaller clinics assume the applicant manages this step, which creates delays when they discover the legal obligation falls on them.
E-3 Visa Speech Pathologist: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Speech Pathologist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Speech Pathologist roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Beyond that, DOL LCA disclosure data shows which hospital networks, school districts, and rehabilitation providers have filed for SLP roles under the E-3 or H-1B visa before, which tells you which employers already understand the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Speech Pathologist role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes. Speech-language pathology requires at minimum a master's degree in the field, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation requirement that a theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge is necessary for the role. ASHA's CCC-SLP credential and state licensure requirements further reinforce the specialty occupation classification, so approval risk on this point is low for qualified applicants.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian Speech Pathologists?
The E-3 is significantly more predictable for SLPs. The H-1B has an annual cap of 85,000 and is subject to a lottery, meaning you could go through an entire hiring process and not get selected. The E-3 has a 10,500 annual cap that has never been exhausted, requires no lottery, and can be filed at any time of year. For Australian nationals, the E-3 is the practical default.
Can I switch SLP employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but you cannot start work for the new employer until a new LCA has been certified by the DOL and a new E-3 visa has been issued. Unlike some other visa categories, the E-3 does not allow portability between employers. You'll need to coordinate timing carefully, particularly if your current visa stamp is expiring, and apply for a new E-3 at a U.S. consulate before beginning the new role.
