Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Platform Developer
Frame your degree for U.S. specialty occupation
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 visa purposes. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before applying so employers and USCIS see your qualification mapped to U.S. standards.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for platform or software developer roles. Employers already familiar with the LCA process are far less likely to hesitate when you disclose your E-3 sponsorship requirement.
Address the no-lottery advantage in your outreach
Many U.S. hiring managers assume all work visas involve the H-1B lottery. Clarify upfront that your E-3 requires no lottery entry, no annual cap wait, and can be filed after an offer is accepted, which removes the timing risk employers typically fear.
Verify your role's SOC code before the LCA
Platform Developer roles can map to multiple Standard Occupational Classification codes, and the SOC code determines the prevailing wage DOL certifies on your LCA. Confirm the code your employer plans to use aligns with your actual duties before filing begins.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the end-to-end process
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the LCA submission, I-129 preparation, and consulate appointment documentation so neither you nor your employer needs to coordinate multiple service providers across the filing timeline.
Prepare your E-3 documents before your consulate appointment
Bring the certified LCA, DS-160 confirmation, your employment offer letter, and degree credentials to your Australian consulate interview. Missing the certified LCA or carrying an uncertified draft is one of the most common reasons E-3 appointments stall at the window.
E-3 Visa Platform Developer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Platform Developer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Platform Developer roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Standard job boards rarely filter by visa type, which means you spend time on roles that won't move forward. Migrate Mate surfaces positions specifically matched to Australian E-3 candidates, so your search is focused from the start.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
How does the E-3 visa compare to H-1B for Platform Developer roles?
Both visas cover Platform Developer roles as specialty occupations, but the E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, which means you can apply any time of year after receiving an offer. H-1B registrations enter a randomized lottery each March with no guarantee of selection. For Australian citizens, the E-3 is the more predictable path into a U.S. platform engineering role.
Does my Australian university degree qualify for an E-3 Platform Developer application?
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related discipline is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 specialty occupation purposes. A credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator documents the equivalency formally, which strengthens your LCA and DS-160 submissions if USCIS or the consular officer requests evidence.
Can I switch Platform Developer employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but the new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll typically need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the United States unless you change status while already stateside. There's no portability rule for the E-3 the way AC21 applies to H-1B holders, so your authorization to work is tied directly to the employer named on the certified LCA and visa.
