Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Production Associate
Translate your Australian qualifications early
U.S. employers often don't recognize Australian three-year bachelor's degrees as equivalent to a four-year U.S. degree. Get a credential evaluation from a USCIS-accepted service before applying so your qualifications support the specialty occupation requirement.
Target manufacturers with existing LCA filings
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Certification data center for employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for production or operations roles. These employers already understand the E-3 visa process and are less likely to withdraw an offer over sponsorship concerns.
Frame your role as specialty occupation in applications
Production Associate titles vary widely. Emphasize degree-specific responsibilities like process engineering, quality systems, or supply chain analysis in your resume and cover letter. Roles that require any bachelor's degree won't qualify, so the position description needs to specify your field.
Confirm your offer letter specifies full-time employment
The E-3 requires a bona fide job offer with defined duties and a start date. Part-time or contract arrangements complicate the LCA filing with DOL. Verify before accepting that your offer letter describes a permanent, full-time position with your direct employer.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment, and filing errors at this stage can delay your start date by weeks.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your consulate interview
E-3 consular officers at Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth routinely ask about your ties to Australia. Bring evidence of ongoing connections such as property ownership, family, or professional licenses, alongside your employment offer and certified LCA.
E-3 Visa Production Associate: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Production Associate jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Production Associate roles filtered specifically for E-3 sponsorship. Most standard job boards don't let you filter by visa type, so you end up cold-approaching employers who have no sponsorship history. Migrate Mate surfaces roles where employers are already set up to sponsor Australian nationals, which significantly shortens your search.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Production Associate role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the position is defined. A Production Associate role qualifies if it normally requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as industrial engineering, manufacturing technology, or supply chain management. Roles where any degree field is acceptable, or where no degree is actually required in practice, won't meet the specialty occupation standard. The job description your employer provides to DOL for the LCA filing determines this, not the job title alone.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Production Associate roles?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply any time of year and start as soon as your visa is approved. The H-1B visa has an 85,000-slot annual cap with a random lottery, meaning most applicants aren't selected even if fully qualified. For Production Associate roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, the E-3 is a far more predictable path for Australian nationals. Both visas require DOL certification of an LCA and a qualifying employer.
Can I change employers or get promoted while on an E-3 in a Production Associate role?
Yes, but each employer change requires a new LCA filing and a new E-3 visa stamp before or at the time you start with the new employer. A promotion within the same company that changes your job duties significantly may also require a new LCA. You can't simply transfer an existing E-3 to a new employer the way some other visa categories allow, so build in several weeks of lead time when planning a job change.
