Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Registered Veterinary Technician
Verify your credential equivalency before applying
Australian veterinary technology qualifications vary by state. Get a formal credential evaluation confirming your degree meets the U.S. bachelor's-level specialty occupation standard before employers or USCIS ask for it.
Target AVMA-accredited hospital and clinic groups
Veterinary practices affiliated with AVMA-accredited programs have structured HR processes and are more familiar with specialty occupation documentation. Multi-location groups and university veterinary hospitals are especially likely to have filed LCAs before.
Ask about LCA sponsorship before the final interview
Many veterinary employers assume sponsorship means H-1B lottery risk. Clarify early that the E-3 visa has no lottery and requires only a certified LCA from DOL, which typically processes within seven business days, so it doesn't delay your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to handle your LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end to end, from DOL certification through consulate preparation, so neither you nor your employer carries the administrative burden.
Search for roles with E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate lists Registered Veterinary Technician roles from employers already open to E-3 sponsorship, so you're not cold-pitching the visa concept to every hiring manager you contact.
Confirm your state veterinary technician licence transfers
Veterinary technician licensing is state-specific in the U.S. Check whether your destination state requires the VTNE exam or accepts foreign credential equivalency, and start that process in parallel with your E-3 application to avoid a post-approval delay.
E-3 Visa Registered Veterinary Technician: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Registered Veterinary Technician jobs with E-3 sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for RVT roles from employers already open to E-3 visa sponsorship. Because many veterinary practices haven't sponsored international staff before, targeting employers through a platform that filters for sponsorship willingness saves significant time compared to applying broadly and educating each employer from scratch.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Registered Veterinary Technician role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in veterinary technology or a directly related field. The role must be advertised and structured around that degree requirement. If a job posting lists the degree as preferred rather than required, it may not satisfy USCIS's specialty occupation standard, so review the job description carefully before your employer files the LCA.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for RVT roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens but has no annual lottery and no cap, so your employer can file at any time of year and expect a decision within weeks. The H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with a roughly 25% selection rate, meaning most applicants are turned away regardless of qualifications. For Australian RVTs, the E-3 is the straightforward path.
What happens to my E-3 status if I change veterinary employers in the U.S.?
Your E-3 status is employer-specific, so changing jobs requires your new employer to file a fresh LCA with DOL and you to attend a new consulate appointment in Australia or apply for a change of status inside the U.S. You cannot simply transfer your existing visa stamp to a new employer. Start the process with your new employer before your current role ends to avoid a gap in authorised work status.
