Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Release Engineer
Translate your CI/CD credentials for U.S. employers
Australian certifications and degree transcripts need to read clearly to a U.S. hiring manager. Get your three-year bachelor's degree assessed by a credential evaluation service so employers and the DOL recognize it as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree.
Filter job postings by LCA filing history
Focus your search on companies that have already filed Labor Condition Applications for software or release engineering roles. Prior LCA activity confirms the employer understands the DOL certification process and won't stall your offer at the sponsorship conversation.
Clarify your E-3 status before the offer stage
Many U.S. hiring managers confuse the E-3 visa with the H-1B lottery. Briefly explain that E-3 visas are available year-round, require no lottery entry, and can be filed quickly once an offer is made, so there's no blackout period for your start date.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, the employer must file an LCA with the DOL before your consulate appointment can proceed. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so your start date isn't delayed by avoidable filing errors.
Confirm job duties satisfy specialty occupation criteria
Release Engineer roles that blend deployment automation with general IT support can face specialty occupation scrutiny at the consulate. Ensure your offer letter describes duties tied specifically to a degree field, such as software engineering or systems architecture, not broad operational tasks.
Time your consulate appointment around your rollout calendar
E-3 processing at Australian consulates typically runs two to five business days after your interview, but appointment availability varies by location and season. Book your Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth appointment as soon as your LCA is certified to avoid gaps during high-demand release cycles.
E-3 Visa Release Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Release Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that support E-3 sponsorship. Search for Release Engineer positions directly on Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers with active E-3 and LCA filing history so you're not spending time on companies unfamiliar with the visa or unwilling to sponsor.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Release Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as software engineering, computer science, or information systems. Roles that mix deployment engineering with generalist IT duties can face pushback, so your offer letter should clearly tie the job responsibilities to a defined degree discipline.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Release Engineer roles?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any point in the year once you have an offer. H-1B registrations for the same role enter a randomized lottery with a roughly one-in-four selection rate, meaning you could wait years before gaining status. The E-3 also renews indefinitely in two-year increments with no limits.
Can I change Release Engineer employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll typically need a new consulate appointment for an updated visa stamp before starting the new role. There's no H-1B-style portability provision for the E-3, so plan for a two-to-four week gap between your last day and your new start date while the new filing is processed.
