E-3 Visa School Nurse Jobs
School Nurse roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when tied to a bachelor's degree in nursing and a valid RN license. Australian nurses can pursue indefinitely renewable two-year E-3 status without competing in the H-1B lottery, making U.S. school district positions a realistic and repeatable career path.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a School Nurse
Get your CGFNS credential evaluation early
U.S. school districts need proof your Australian nursing degree meets RN licensure standards. A Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) evaluation confirms your credentials before you apply, preventing delays once an offer arrives.
Target public school districts over agencies
Public school districts are direct employers and control their own LCA filings, which shortens the sponsorship decision chain. Staffing agencies often won't sponsor E-3 visas, so apply directly to district HR departments that list RN or school nurse positions.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find school districts and educational employers with documented E-3 sponsorship history. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer confirmed.
Confirm your state nursing license transfers
Your Australian registration doesn't automatically transfer. You'll need to pass NCLEX and obtain licensure in the state where the school district operates before the DOL certifies the LCA, so start the state board application as soon as you target a location.
Ask HR to file the LCA before your start date
The DOL must certify the Labor Condition Application before your consulate appointment. Push your employer to submit the LCA at least four weeks before your intended interview date to avoid gaps between offer acceptance and your ability to travel and begin work.
Bring degree equivalency documentation to your interview
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes, but consular officers may ask. Bring a credential evaluation letter and your nursing degree transcript to your Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth appointment.

Find School Nurse JobsSchool Nurse E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find School Nurse jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for school nurse roles where employers have a verified E-3 sponsorship history. Most public school districts can sponsor E-3 visas directly because the visa requires only an LCA, not a lengthy PERM process. Filtering by sponsorship type saves you from applying to districts that only hire candidates already authorized to work in the U.S.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a School Nurse role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree in nursing as a minimum entry requirement. School districts that list 'BSN required' or 'RN with bachelor's degree' in the job description meet the specialty occupation standard. Roles listed as 'associate degree acceptable' are harder to support under E-3 and may draw scrutiny at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to H-1B for an Australian school nurse?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply any time of year with a valid job offer. H-1B selection is random and limited to 85,000 slots per fiscal year, meaning an otherwise qualified Australian nurse could wait years for a slot. The E-3 renews in two-year increments indefinitely, making long-term school district employment straightforward to maintain.
Can I transfer my E-3 status if I move to a different school district?
Yes, but you'll need to restart the process with the new employer. The new district must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll typically need a new consulate appointment or a change-of-status filing if you're already inside the U.S. Plan for at least a four-to-six-week transition window between positions to avoid any gap in authorized employment.
