Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in Registered Nurse Operating Room
Get your NCLEX-RN before applying
U.S. hospitals won't file an LCA for a nurse who hasn't passed the NCLEX-RN. Sit the exam through your state board of choice before contacting employers, sponsorship conversations stall immediately without it.
Target hospitals with active OR expansion
Surgical volume growth signals hiring intent. Search DOL's FLAG portal for hospitals that have filed LCAs under SOC code 29-1141 in the past 12 months, these employers already understand the E-3 visa sponsorship process.
Search for E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter operating room nursing roles by employers with confirmed E-3 sponsorship history. It surfaces active positions that generic job boards won't tag by visa type.
Clarify ACLS and specialty certifications upfront
Most U.S. OR roles require current ACLS and, for specific units, CNOR certification. Listing these credentials in your application prevents employers from deprioritising your file during the LCA wage determination review.
Confirm the employer will file the LCA before accepting
The E-3 requires your employer to file a certified LCA with the DOL before your visa interview. Ask HR to confirm this step is within their process, some smaller surgical centres outsource sponsorship and need lead time.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have an offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the LCA submission, DS-160 preparation, and consulate appointment documentation so you can focus on your notice period, not immigration admin.
E-3 Visa Registered Nurse Operating Room: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find operating room nursing jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa type and surfaces employers with confirmed E-3 sponsorship history. OR nursing positions are posted across perioperative, surgical services, and intraoperative care units, filtering by sponsorship availability upfront saves significant time compared to approaching hospitals cold.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an operating room nursing role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Operating room nursing requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent plus NCLEX-RN licensure, meeting the E-3's specialty occupation threshold. USCIS recognises registered nursing as a qualifying occupation, and the perioperative subspecialty adds credential specificity that strengthens your application.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian OR nurses?
The E-3 is strictly better for Australians in this role. There's no lottery, no annual cap, and no waiting period, your employer files the LCA and you attend your consulate interview in Australia. H-1B visa has a 85,000-slot annual cap with a randomised lottery, meaning qualified nurses are frequently rejected purely by chance.
Can I transfer my E-3 if I change hospitals after arriving in the U.S.?
Yes, but the new hospital must file a fresh LCA before you start working there. The E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't simply transfer your status. If you're changing roles, allow at least four to six weeks for the new LCA certification and any required consulate or USCIS processing before your start date.
