Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer
Translate your Australian degree for U.S. employers
U.S. hiring managers may not recognize a three-year Australian bachelor's degree as equivalent to a four-year U.S. degree. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before applying so your qualification clearly meets the E-3 visa specialty occupation standard.
Target companies with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure database for employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for BI Engineer or Data Engineer roles. Prior LCA filings confirm the company understands the E-3 process and has sponsored similar positions before.
Find E-3 sponsored roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to search Senior Business Intelligence Engineer jobs filtered by E-3 sponsorship. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service then handles your LCA filing, visa paperwork, and consulate preparation once you have an offer.
Frame your BI stack as a specialty occupation credential
When discussing your background with hiring managers, connect your experience with tools like Snowflake, dbt, or Power BI directly to your degree field. USCIS evaluates specialty occupation partly on whether the role theoretically requires your specific degree.
Request the LCA before accepting a formal offer
The employer must file and receive DOL certification for the LCA before you attend your consulate interview. Confirm your prospective employer understands this sequencing early so the offer timeline accounts for LCA processing, which typically takes seven business days.
Clarify your work location before the LCA is filed
If your role is hybrid or remote across multiple states, each work location must be listed on the LCA separately. Sorting out which sites the employer will list avoids delays and ensures your visa reflects where you'll actually be working.
E-3 Visa Senior Business Intelligence Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Senior Business Intelligence Engineer jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter Senior Business Intelligence Engineer positions by employers who have sponsored E-3 or similar specialty occupation visas before, which removes the uncertainty of approaching companies that have never navigated the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Senior BI Engineer roles require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as computer science, information systems, mathematics, or a related discipline. USCIS considers this a specialty occupation because the complexity of the role theoretically requires that specific academic background, not just any degree.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Senior Business Intelligence Engineer roles?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual cap that has never been exhausted, so there's no lottery and no wait. The H-1B is subject to an oversubscribed lottery that rejects the majority of applicants regardless of qualifications. For Australian BI professionals, the E-3 means a predictable, year-round path to U.S. employment that the H-1B simply can't offer.
Can my employer sponsor my E-3 if they've only hired H-1B workers before?
Yes. E-3 sponsorship uses the same Labor Condition Application process as H-1B, so employers with H-1B filing history already have the infrastructure in place. The main difference is that the E-3 requires you to apply at a U.S. consulate in Australia rather than filing for a change of status domestically, which some HR teams aren't initially aware of.
