Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Software Asset Management
Frame your credentials around U.S. specialty occupation standards
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes, but your transcript and any certifications like CSAM or IAITAM should explicitly map to the job description's required field of study.
Target employers with active software compliance programs
Mid-to-large enterprises running SAP, ServiceNow, or Microsoft EA agreements need dedicated SAM professionals and are more likely to sponsor. Search DOL LCA disclosure data to confirm which employers have filed for similar IT governance roles recently.
Clarify the SAM role qualifies as a specialty occupation
Not every SAM job posting is written to reflect a bachelor's degree requirement. Before applying, verify the listing states a specific degree field is required, not just preferred. A 'preferred' degree can complicate your E-3 petition at the consulate.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. The LCA must be DOL-certified before your consulate appointment, and errors in prevailing wage documentation are a common rejection trigger for specialist IT roles.
Negotiate employer filing responsibilities before accepting an offer
The E-3 requires your employer to file the LCA with DOL and provide a support letter before your consulate interview. Confirm during the offer stage that HR understands this obligation, many smaller employers have never sponsored an E-3 and may push back unexpectedly.
Prepare for consulate questions on software licensing scope
Consular officers may ask how your role requires a degree-level education rather than vendor training alone. Prepare a one-page summary tying your SAM responsibilities, license compliance, contract negotiation, audit defense, directly to your academic background and professional credentials.

Find Software Asset Management JobsSoftware Asset Management E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Software Asset Management jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for SAM roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. General job boards rarely filter by visa type, and you can waste weeks applying to roles where sponsorship was never on the table. Migrate Mate surfaces positions specifically relevant to Australian professionals seeking E-3 sponsorship, saving you the guesswork.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Software Asset Management role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the job requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as information systems, computer science, or business information technology. The role must require theoretical and practical application of that degree, not just vendor certifications or on-the-job training. If the posting says degree 'preferred,' that creates ambiguity USCIS and consular officers may question.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Software Asset Management professionals?
The E-3 has no annual lottery, no cap backlog, and can be filed any time of year, unlike the H-1B, which is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate. For Australian SAM professionals, the E-3 is a far more predictable path. You can start a role, renew indefinitely in two-year increments, and avoid the multi-year wait that H-1B candidates face.
What happens if my employer has never sponsored a visa before?
Many SAM employers are mid-size IT or enterprise software companies unfamiliar with the E-3 process. The employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and provide a support letter for your consulate appointment. Neither step requires USCIS approval, which makes the E-3 faster and less intimidating for first-time sponsoring employers than petitions like the H-1B.
