E-3 Visa Cloud Software Engineer Jobs
Cloud Software Engineer roles in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and distributed systems qualify as E-3 specialty occupations when tied to a relevant degree. Australian engineers can secure E-3 visa sponsorship without competing in the H-1B lottery, with two-year periods renewable indefinitely as long as you hold a qualifying offer.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Cloud Software Engineer
Align your degree to the role
U.S. consular officers assess whether your Australian degree matches the specific cloud engineering role, not just tech broadly. A computer science or software engineering degree maps cleanly; an unrelated degree requires a detailed credential evaluation linking coursework to cloud architecture or infrastructure.
Target employers with active LCA filings
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify companies that have filed LCAs for cloud or software engineering roles. Prior LCA activity signals an employer already understands the E-3 visa sponsorship process and won't need to be educated from scratch.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Migrate Mate filters Cloud Software Engineer jobs by E-3 sponsorship history, so you're applying to roles where employers are already set up to hire Australian engineers. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you've secured an offer.
Clarify contractor versus direct-hire situations
If the role places you at a third-party client site, the E-3 employer of record must control your day-to-day work to satisfy USCIS requirements. Confirm this arrangement before accepting, as unclear employer relationships are a common source of LCA complications for cloud consulting roles.
Negotiate offer timing around LCA certification
Your employer must obtain a certified LCA from the DOL before your consulate appointment can proceed. Standard DOL processing runs around seven business days, so factor this into your start-date negotiation rather than agreeing to a fixed start before certification is confirmed.
Prepare cloud-specific credential documentation
Bring official transcripts showing relevant computer science or engineering coursework, plus any cloud certifications (AWS, GCP, Azure) to your consulate interview. Consular officers use these to verify specialty occupation status, and documented technical credentials reduce the chance of follow-up requests.
E-3 Visa Cloud Software Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Cloud Software Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Cloud Software Engineer roles at employers with E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which companies will support Australian engineers. Standard job boards don't filter by visa type or employer filing history, which makes the process significantly harder without a targeted tool.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Cloud Software Engineer role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as computer science, software engineering, or information systems. Cloud roles that list a degree as preferred rather than required can create complications at the consulate, so confirming the job description explicitly requires a relevant degree before applying protects you during adjudication.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Cloud Software Engineers?
The E-3 has a 10,500-annual cap that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no random selection risk. H-1B registration enters a lottery where selection is not guaranteed, and unsuccessful registrants must wait until the next fiscal year. For Australian cloud engineers, the E-3 is a direct path that doesn't depend on chance.
Can I switch cloud engineering roles or employers on an E-3?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if your current one is tied to the previous employer. You can change roles while remaining in E-3 status, though the transition requires the new employer to complete the LCA process before your start date with them.
