Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Customer Solutions Engineer
Frame your degree against U.S. specialty occupation standards
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees in computer science, engineering, or information systems satisfy E-3 visa specialty occupation requirements. If your degree is in a adjacent field, prepare a course transcript showing technical units that align with the Customer Solutions Engineer role description your offer letter uses.
Target companies with active LCA filing histories
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have filed LCAs for Solutions Engineer or Customer Engineer job titles. Prior LCA filings signal that a company already has an established E-3 sponsorship workflow, which shortens your timeline from offer to visa.
Position your Australian client portfolio as a differentiator
U.S. SaaS and enterprise tech employers increasingly serve APAC markets. A background managing enterprise accounts or technical onboarding for Australian clients is a concrete hiring argument, not just a cultural add. Lead with that in your cover letter and first-round conversations to accelerate sponsorship buy-in.
Clarify LCA wage level before signing your offer
The DOL's prevailing wage determination assigns your role a wage level from I to IV based on complexity and supervision. Customer Solutions Engineers are typically Level II or III. Confirm which level your employer's LCA will use before you accept, since the certified wage locks in your minimum salary for the visa term.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end preparation
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission, DS-160 preparation, and consulate appointment briefing. Solutions Engineer roles sometimes receive questions about whether the function is genuinely specialty occupation, and having clean, role-aligned paperwork from the start reduces that friction.
Negotiate a conditional start date to protect against LCA delays
DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days, but public interest inquiries or prevailing wage objections can extend that. Ask your employer to confirm a conditional start date tied to LCA certification rather than a fixed date, so a brief DOL delay doesn't create a gap in your employment terms.
E-3 Visa Customer Solutions Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Customer Solutions Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that include E-3 sponsorship. Rather than filtering generic job boards for visa status, Migrate Mate surfaces Customer Solutions Engineer positions at employers who have already demonstrated willingness to sponsor, saving you from pursuing roles where sponsorship is an afterthought the hiring manager has never considered.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Customer Solutions Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation under E-3?
Yes, in most cases. The E-3 requires the position to normally demand at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical or engineering field. Customer Solutions Engineer roles tied to complex SaaS platforms, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise software typically meet that standard. Where roles are more broadly defined, your employer's job description should explicitly reference the required degree field to support the LCA and visa application.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Customer Solutions Engineers?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, so there is no lottery and no random selection. The H-1B visa subjects most applicants to an oversubscribed lottery with no guaranteed outcome. Both visas require employer sponsorship and prevailing wage compliance, but the E-3 can be applied for at any time of year and renewed indefinitely in two-year increments, giving Customer Solutions Engineers a far more predictable career timeline.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Customer Solutions Engineer?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't simply transfer it. Your new employer needs to file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need to obtain a new E-3 visa stamp, which typically means a consulate appointment in Australia or a third country. You can start working for the new employer once the new LCA is certified and you hold a valid visa, but timing the transition carefully avoids a status gap.
