E-3 Visa Devops Lead Jobs
DevOps Lead roles qualify as E-3 specialty occupations when the position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Australian nationals can pursue E-3 visa sponsorship without competing in a lottery, making this one of the most accessible paths to U.S. tech leadership roles. The visa renews in two-year increments with no cap.

Frame your Australian credentials for U.S. roles
A three-year Australian bachelor's degree satisfies the E-3 visa specialty occupation requirement. Translate your APRA certifications, cloud platform credentials, and CI/CD toolchain experience into terminology U.S. hiring managers recognize before you apply.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify tech companies that have certified LCAs for DevOps and infrastructure roles. Employers already familiar with the process handle E-3 paperwork faster and with fewer delays.
Clarify the specialty occupation case before your interview
DevOps Lead roles can attract scrutiny if the job description lists broad responsibilities without a clear degree requirement. Review the offer letter language with your employer before it's finalized so the specialty occupation basis is defensible.
Handle the LCA filing timeline with your employer
Your employer must file a certified LCA with DOL before you can attend your consulate appointment. The LCA typically certifies within seven business days, but factor this into your start date negotiations so the timeline doesn't catch either side off guard.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end support
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork from certification through consulate preparation. This reduces back-and-forth with your employer and keeps the filing on track for your start date.
Prepare your consulate packet for technical role scrutiny
Consular officers at Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth will review your job offer, LCA, and educational credentials together. Bring an org chart showing the DevOps Lead position, a technical summary of the role's degree requirement, and your certified LCA as a unified packet.
E-3 Visa Devops Lead: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find DevOps Lead jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search for DevOps Lead roles specifically filtered by E-3 sponsorship availability, so you're not sifting through positions where employers won't support the visa. Because the E-3 requires your employer to file a Labor Condition Application, targeting companies already familiar with the process saves significant time in your search.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a DevOps Lead role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as computer science, software engineering, or information systems. The challenge arises when job descriptions are written broadly. If your offer letter says a degree is 'preferred' rather than 'required,' that can undermine the specialty occupation determination. Work with your employer to tighten the language before submission.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for DevOps Lead roles?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no annual cap risk. The H-1B visa requires winning a randomized lottery before you can even apply. For an Australian DevOps Lead, the E-3 is a direct path: get an offer, your employer files the LCA with DOL, and you attend your consulate interview. No lottery, no multi-year wait.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a DevOps Lead?
Yes, but the process restarts with each new employer. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if yours is tied to the previous employer. You can begin working for the new employer after your new E-3 is approved, so plan the transition window carefully to avoid a gap in authorized employment.
