Translate your credentials for U.S. employers
An Australian three-year bachelor's degree satisfies the E-3 visa specialty occupation requirement, but document the equivalency explicitly in your application materials so hiring managers and their legal teams don't flag it as a gap during the LCA filing process.
Target employers with established LCA filing history
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify companies that have filed LCAs for director-level roles. Firms with prior E-3 or H-1B visa LCA history for similar positions move faster and rarely need convincing on the process.
Find sponsoring Solutions Director roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer. Migrate Mate surfaces director-level roles from employers already familiar with E-3 sponsorship, cutting the time between offer and application.
Frame sponsorship as a consulting-sector advantage
Solutions Director roles frequently sit inside technology consulting, systems integration, and managed services firms. These employers hire across global talent pools regularly and treat E-3 sponsorship as a standard recruitment step rather than an exception.
Negotiate offer timing around LCA certification windows
The DOL typically certifies LCAs within seven business days. Build that window into your start date negotiation so your employer isn't caught off guard. Requesting a start date at least three weeks out gives both sides a realistic buffer.
Prepare your specialty occupation documentation before interviews
Consular officers assess whether a Solutions Director role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Bring a detailed job description, your degree certificate, and any USCIS-relevant credentials that directly connect your academic background to the position.
E-3 Visa Solutions Director: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Solutions Director jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3-eligible roles. Search for Solutions Director positions on Migrate Mate to find employers who are already open to E-3 sponsorship. Because the E-3 requires employer participation in the LCA process, identifying sponsorship-ready employers before you apply saves significant time.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Solutions Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, information technology, engineering, or management consulting. The key test is whether the position normally requires that degree for entry-level performance. Generic director titles that accept any degree in any field can face LCA scrutiny, so the job description needs to be precise about the educational requirement.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for a Solutions Director role?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so an Australian professional in a qualifying Solutions Director role can apply any time of year without waiting for a selection cycle. H-1B petitions are capped at 85,000 annually and selected by lottery, meaning qualified candidates can be shut out for years. The E-3 also processes through a consular interview rather than a USCIS petition, which is often faster for candidates already outside the United States.
Can I change employers after starting work on an E-3 as a Solutions Director?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL before you begin work with them. There is no formal portability provision as with some other visa categories, so you'll need to complete the full process again, including a new visa stamp if yours expires, before legally starting with the new company.
