E-3 Visa Sonographer Jobs
Sonographer roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography or a related imaging field. Australian sonographers benefit from no lottery and indefinite two-year renewals, making U.S. hospital systems and imaging centers straightforward to target for long-term placement.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Sonographer
Credential your ARDMS certification before applying
U.S. employers treat ARDMS credentials as the baseline hiring standard. If you hold Australian qualifications without ARDMS certification, get assessed early, credential gaps are the most common reason E-3 offers stall before an LCA is filed.
Target hospital systems with active imaging departments
Large hospital networks and outpatient imaging centers file LCAs regularly and have HR teams familiar with E-3 sponsorship. Academic medical centers and multi-site radiology groups are your most reliable starting pool for role-specific sponsorship conversations.
Search for E-3 sponsorship jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters roles by E-3 sponsorship history, so you're targeting employers who have sponsored before rather than cold-pitching. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once an offer comes through.
Prepare a U.S.-format resume highlighting scan volumes
Australian CVs list credentials and duties; U.S. sonography hiring managers want scan volumes, modalities covered, and patient throughput. Quantify your experience before outreach, a mismatch in resume format slows offers from employers unfamiliar with Australian training structures.
Confirm your employer files the LCA before accepting
The employer must file a certified LCA with DOL before you can apply at the U.S. consulate. Ask explicitly whether their HR team handles LCA filing in-house or works with outside counsel, delays here extend your start date regardless of how quickly the consulate processes your application.
Address your 3-year degree equivalency upfront
Australian bachelor's degrees in medical sonography are typically three years, and some U.S. consular officers request a credential evaluation confirming equivalency to a four-year U.S. degree. Commission an evaluation from a USCIS-recognized body before your interview to avoid adjudication delays.

Find Sonographer JobsSonographer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Sonographer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for sonographer roles filtered by E-3 sponsorship history. Most standard job platforms don't surface visa sponsorship data, so you end up cold-pitching employers who have never filed an LCA. Migrate Mate connects you directly with employers who have an active track record of sponsoring Australian professionals, cutting the qualification step out of early conversations.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Sonographer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Diagnostic medical sonography requires at minimum a bachelor's degree or equivalent in sonography or a closely related imaging science, which meets the E-3 specialty occupation definition. You'll need to demonstrate that your Australian qualification corresponds to a U.S. bachelor's degree, a credential evaluation from a USCIS-recognized service handles this if your degree is three years rather than four.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Sonographers?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so Australian sonographers can apply any time of year with a job offer in hand. The H-1B requires entering a random selection lottery held once per year, with registration closing in March and a roughly one-in-four chance of selection. For Australians, the E-3 is the faster, more predictable path to U.S. practice by a significant margin.
Can I switch sonography employers after I'm in the U.S. on an E-3?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific, so your new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need to either apply for a new E-3 visa stamp at an Australian consulate or, in some cases, file a change of status with USCIS. There's no grace period built into the E-3 equivalent to the 60-day H-1B grace period, so coordinate your transition timing carefully with your new employer's HR team before leaving your current role.
