Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Sterile Processing Tech
Verify your credential equivalency early
Australian Certificate III or IV qualifications in sterilisation services may not satisfy the E-3 specialty occupation requirement on their own. Get a formal credential evaluation confirming your training equates to a U.S. bachelor's-level qualification before applying.
Target hospital systems over staffing agencies
Large hospital networks and academic medical centers file LCAs directly with DOL and have established HR processes for E-3 sponsorship. Staffing agencies often lack the infrastructure to sponsor work visas for contract sterile processing roles.
Search specifically for E-3 sponsorship roles
Most sterile processing job listings don't mention visa sponsorship at all. Use Migrate Mate to filter for employers with active E-3 sponsorship history so you're targeting roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Request LCA filing before your start date
Your employer must have a certified LCA from DOL before you can attend your consulate interview. Build at least two to three weeks of LCA processing time into your timeline between accepting an offer and scheduling your appointment.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Sterile processing roles involve occupation-specific DOL wage classifications that need to be matched correctly on your LCA. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the LCA, DS-160, and consulate preparation so nothing gets misclassified.
Understand your E-3 renewal cycle before signing
The E-3 is issued in two-year increments and requires employer sponsorship for each renewal. Confirm your prospective employer intends to support renewals, not just the initial hire, before you accept an offer and relocate.

Find Sterile Processing Tech JobsSterile Processing Tech E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Sterile Processing Tech jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Standard job boards rarely filter by visa type, so you'll spend significant time applying to roles where sponsorship isn't available. Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals and surfaces Sterile Processing Tech roles at employers with active E-3 sponsorship history, cutting out the guesswork from your job search.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Sterile Processing Tech role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3?
It depends on how the position is defined and what credentials the employer requires. If the job description mandates a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, it can qualify. Roles framed around certification alone, without a degree requirement, are harder to support under the E-3 specialty occupation standard.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Sterile Processing Tech roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian nationals but has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any time of year and aren't subject to random selection. The H-1B requires entering an oversubscribed lottery each March with no guarantee of selection. For Australians in sterile processing, the E-3 is the more reliable path.
What happens to my E-3 status if my employer closes or I'm laid off?
Your E-3 status is tied to your sponsoring employer, so a layoff or hospital closure ends your authorized employment. USCIS provides a short grace period of up to 60 days to find a new sponsoring employer and begin a fresh E-3 process. You'll need a new LCA and consulate appointment with the new employer before resuming work.
