Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Strategy Consultant
Frame your credentials for U.S. specialty occupation
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before applying, so your employer can confidently complete the LCA without delays.
Target consulting firms with existing LCA filings
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have filed LCAs for Strategy Consultant or Management Consultant roles. Firms with recent filings understand the process and are far less likely to stall at the sponsorship conversation.
Lead with E-3 when approaching employers
Many U.S. consulting firms assume sponsorship means H-1B lottery risk. Open the conversation by clarifying the E-3 requires no lottery, no USCIS petition, and no employer registration fee, and that the DOL LCA certification typically takes around seven business days.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the offer stage
Once you have an offer, the LCA and visa paperwork move fast. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA submission through consulate appointment preparation, so your start date doesn't slip while documents are in progress.
Align your offer letter to the specialty occupation definition
The consular officer will assess whether your role theoretically requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Make sure your offer letter describes the analytical and strategic nature of the work, not just seniority or client responsibilities, to satisfy the specialty occupation standard.
Negotiate a delayed start date to allow consulate scheduling
E-3 consulate appointments in Sydney and Melbourne can be booked two to six weeks out. Build at least four weeks between your accepted offer and your proposed start date so your employer isn't left waiting if appointment availability tightens.

Find Strategy Consultant JobsStrategy Consultant E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Strategy Consultant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Strategy Consultant roles specifically filtered for E-3 visa sponsorship, so you're not manually screening postings to find employers who will sponsor. Because many consulting firms don't advertise sponsorship availability upfront, using a platform built for E-3 job searches saves significant time and surfaces employers who already understand the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Strategy Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS and consular officers assess whether the role theoretically requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field like business, economics, or management. Strategy consulting work involving analytical frameworks, client advisory, and structured problem-solving typically meets the specialty occupation standard. Roles framed primarily around relationship management or business development face more scrutiny and may need additional documentation.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian Strategy Consultants?
The E-3 has no lottery, no annual registration period, and no cap that has ever been reached, making it available year-round to Australian nationals. The H-1B requires entering a lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate and a mandatory April registration window. For a Strategy Consultant with an offer in hand, the E-3 can move from LCA filing to consulate appointment in under four weeks, while H-1B processing takes months even with premium processing.
Can I transfer my E-3 status if I move between consulting firms?
Yes, but each employer change requires a fresh LCA and a new E-3 visa application. You don't carry your current E-3 status to a new employer the way H-1B portability works. If you're already in the U.S., you'll generally need to leave and complete a new consulate appointment abroad unless a change of status through USCIS applies to your situation. Plan for a four to six week gap between accepting an offer and your new start date.
