Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Social Services Specialist
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted for E-3 purposes, but some U.S. employers in social services ask for a credential evaluation confirming equivalency. Request an evaluation from a NACES-approved service before you start applying so you can provide it immediately if asked.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Government agencies, hospital systems, and nonprofit social service organizations file LCAs regularly and have HR teams familiar with the E-3 process. Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify employers who have certified LCAs for social work roles in your target state.
Find E-3 sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to search Social Services Specialist roles filtered by E-3 visa sponsorship. The platform surfaces employers with verified sponsorship history, saving you from applying to roles where the employer will decline once you mention visa requirements.
Clarify licensure requirements before accepting an offer
Many Social Services Specialist roles require state licensure, such as an LCSW or LSW, which you may not yet hold as a new arrival. Confirm with the employer whether the role is open to candidates who will pursue licensure after starting, since this affects your E-3 specialty occupation documentation.
Ask your employer to file the LCA before your start date
The DOL must certify your LCA before your visa application can proceed, and certification typically takes seven business days. Build this into your offer negotiation so your employer submits the LCA as soon as the offer is signed, not after you've set a start date.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end. This is especially useful for social services roles where specialty occupation documentation requires precise framing of the degree-to-role relationship.

Find Social Services Specialist JobsSocial Services Specialist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Social Services Specialist jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Social Services Specialist roles filtered by E-3 sponsorship. Because many social services employers are government agencies or nonprofits unfamiliar with the E-3, targeting employers with prior LCA filing history significantly improves your chances of a smooth sponsorship process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Social Services Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a directly related field. Generalist human services roles where any degree is accepted may face scrutiny. Your employer's job description must specify the degree requirement clearly, and your credentials must match that field.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Social Services Specialist roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens but has no annual lottery, so you can apply any time of year once you have a job offer. The H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate. For Australians, the E-3 is far more predictable and doesn't require waiting for a lottery cycle to start work.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Social Services Specialist?
Yes, but you need to restart the E-3 process with your new employer. The new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new visa stamp if yours doesn't cover the new employer. You can begin working for the new employer once you have a valid E-3 stamp reflecting the new role, so plan for a two to four week transition window.
