Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Technical Manager
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Your Australian bachelor's degree must correspond directly to the Technical Manager role's requirements. A three-year Australian degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but document the field-to-role match explicitly in your application materials.
Target employers with active LCA filing histories
U.S. employers must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your E-3 visa can proceed. Companies that have filed LCAs for technical or engineering management roles before are already familiar with the process and less likely to stall at the sponsorship conversation.
Frame the role as requiring a specific technical degree
E-3 sponsorship requires the job to qualify as a specialty occupation. Technical Manager roles can fail this test if the job description accepts any bachelor's degree. Work with your employer to ensure the offer letter specifies a degree in engineering, computer science, or a directly related field.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, the filing steps move fast. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA submission through consulate preparation, reducing the risk of employer delays killing your start date.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at the consulate
Technical Manager candidates with long U.S. work histories or U.S.-citizen family members face closer scrutiny on nonimmigrant intent. Come to your consulate interview with clear documentation of your Australian ties and a defined employment scope for the role.
Negotiate employer responsibility for LCA compliance upfront
Your employer, not you, bears the legal obligation to post the LCA at the worksite and meet prevailing wage requirements under DOL rules. Clarify before signing your offer whether the company's HR team or an outside representative is handling this, so there are no last-minute surprises.
E-3 Visa Technical Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Technical Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals seeking U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can search Technical Manager positions from employers who understand the E-3 process and are prepared to file the required Labor Condition Application. Searching through a general job board means manually filtering out employers unfamiliar with Australian-specific visa requirements.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Technical Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is written. Technical Manager positions qualify when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field such as engineering, computer science, or information systems. If the job description accepts any bachelor's degree regardless of field, a consular officer may determine the role doesn't meet the specialty occupation standard and deny the visa.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Technical Manager roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery, no cap backlog, and no registration fee, while the H-1B visa is subject to an 85,000-slot annual cap and random selection. For Australian Technical Managers, this means an E-3 application can move from offer to approved visa in weeks, whereas H-1B selection isn't guaranteed and the earliest start date after selection is October 1 of that fiscal year.
Can I transfer my E-3 sponsorship if I change Technical Manager roles?
Yes, but the process starts fresh with each employer. Your new employer must file a new Labor Condition Application with the DOL and obtain certification before you can begin working. If you're changing employers while in the U.S., you'll also need a new E-3 visa stamp, which requires traveling to a U.S. consulate abroad, as E-3 status cannot be extended at a different employer through USCIS alone.
