Translate your credentials for U.S. employers
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 visa purposes, but document this equivalency upfront. A credential evaluation from a NACES-approved body prevents delays when your employer files the Labor Condition Application with DOL.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify companies that have filed LCAs for engineering management roles. Employers already familiar with the LCA process move faster and rarely push back on E-3 sponsorship timelines.
Find E-3-ready roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to search Test Engineering Manager jobs filtered by employers with E-3 sponsorship history. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service also manages the entire process from offer to consulate appointment, so you're not navigating LCA filing and DS-160 preparation alone.
Clarify the LCA requirement before signing an offer
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before you can apply for the E-3. Confirm your prospective employer understands this step and has HR or legal capacity to complete it within your start-date timeline.
Prepare your specialty occupation evidence strategically
Test Engineering Manager roles sit at the intersection of engineering and leadership, which can prompt consular scrutiny. Bring your job description, degree transcripts, and evidence that the role requires a specific technical degree field, not just any bachelor's degree.
Plan your consulate appointment around your start date
E-3 applications are processed at Australian consulates, not through USCIS. Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth each have different appointment wait times. Book your interview slot as soon as your LCA is certified to avoid gaps between your offer acceptance and U.S. start date.
E-3 Visa Test Engineering Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Test Engineering Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Test Engineering Manager roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. The E-3 requires your employer to file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before you can apply, so targeting employers already familiar with the process significantly reduces friction during offer negotiations.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Test Engineering Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, Test Engineering Manager roles typically qualify as specialty occupations because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a closely related technical field. The key is that the job description must specify a degree requirement tied to a particular discipline, not a general preference for any degree. If the posting says 'bachelor's preferred' rather than 'required,' that can create problems at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Test Engineering Manager positions?
The E-3 has a substantial practical advantage for Australians: there's no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply as soon as you hold a qualifying offer. The H-1B visa requires entering a random lottery with roughly 25% selection odds for most applicants, and unsuccessful registrants must wait until the next fiscal year. For Test Engineering Manager roles, the E-3 means your timeline is driven by your employer's LCA filing speed and your consulate appointment, not luck.
Can I switch employers while on an E-3 as a Test Engineering Manager?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh Labor Condition Application with DOL and you'll generally need a new E-3 visa stamp before starting work for the new company. If you're already inside the U.S., you can begin the new LCA process while still employed, but you cannot start the new role until your new E-3 documentation is in order. Planning the transition timing carefully prevents unauthorized employment gaps.
