Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a VP Finance
Align your credentials to U.S. specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to the VP Finance role. An Australian Bachelor of Commerce or Finance degree satisfies this, but a generic business degree may need supporting documentation showing coursework in financial analysis or accounting.
Target public companies with existing LCA filing history
Public companies and large private equity-backed firms are accustomed to DOL Labor Condition Applications. Prioritise employers whose SEC filings or proxy statements indicate international executive hires, as their HR and legal teams already understand the E-3 sponsorship process.
Search for VP Finance roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters VP Finance listings by E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not wasting applications on employers unfamiliar with the process. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once an offer is confirmed.
Address prevailing wage early in offer negotiations
Your offered salary must meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for the VP Finance role in that specific metro area. Raise this before signing an offer letter so your employer understands the LCA certification step and can confirm the compensation structure qualifies.
Prepare a specialty occupation support letter from your employer
Consular officers assess whether the VP Finance duties genuinely require a finance or accounting degree. Ask your U.S. employer to document the technical responsibilities, reporting structure, and degree requirements in an offer letter that goes beyond a standard job description.
Plan your consulate appointment around your start date
The E-3 visa is issued at an Australian consulate, and appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth varies by season. Book your appointment as soon as your LCA is DOL-certified so you have sufficient buffer before your agreed employment start date.

Find VP Finance JobsVP Finance E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find VP Finance jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. It surfaces VP Finance listings from employers already familiar with the E-3 process, filtering out companies unlikely to sponsor, so your search is focused on realistic opportunities from the start.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a VP Finance role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes. VP Finance roles qualify because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a closely related field to perform the duties competently. The position must genuinely require that degree, not merely prefer it, and your employer's offer letter should explicitly state the degree requirement to satisfy USCIS and consular standards.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for VP Finance candidates?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and has a 10,500 annual cap that has never been fully used, meaning no lottery and no wait. The H-1B is oversubscribed, lottery-based, and typically requires a year or more of lead time. For Australian VP Finance candidates, the E-3 offers a predictable, faster path to starting work in the U.S.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 visa in a VP Finance role?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. or a change of status if you're already stateside. There's no transfer mechanism like H-1B portability, so plan for a processing window of several weeks between accepting an offer and your start date.
