INTRODUCTION
The VP, Finance Data Governance, leads the creation and operationalization of our client’s finance data governance function: a critical, net-new capability required to support the finance transformation project and the long-term integrity of our client’s financial data. This leader will develop a roadmap for Master Data Management (MDM) implementation, establish and promulgate standard finance data hierarchies and policies across the enterprise, and build the data quality processes and feedback loops that ensure finance data can be trusted by the business. The role also includes active involvement in the design of the future-state ERP chart of accounts. Significant cross-functional collaboration is required, particularly with IT, enterprise data teams, FP&A, business operations and sales teams, to address collective data challenges and align on common standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and lead our client’s finance data governance organization, establishing the operating model, roles, and processes required to sustain ongoing data quality and policy compliance across finance data domains.
- Identify, appoint, and develop a network of finance data stewards across global regions and business lines, ensuring clear ownership and accountability for key finance data domains.
- Establish data quality frameworks, including defined metrics, monitoring processes, and structured feedback loops between finance data consumers and designated finance data stewards.
- Develop and own the MDM implementation roadmap, including vendor selection support, scope definition, and integration with the future-state ERP and finance data hub environment.
- In collaboration with other finance transformation program leaders, define and promulgate standard definitions and data hierarchies (chart of accounts, client, profit center, etc.) to support standard KPI reporting.
- Actively participate in the design of the future-state ERP chart of accounts, ensuring alignment between chart of accounts structure, reporting requirements, and the data governance framework.
- Partner with colleagues in IT, enterprise data architecture, business operations, and sales to address cross-functional data challenges and develop shared standards where applicable.
- Lead the development of finance data policies, including data lineage documentation standards and data classification frameworks that inform data security decisions.
- Represent finance data governance in cross-functional data governance forums and provide finance leadership with clear, outcome-oriented reporting on data quality maturity progress.
- Partner with the VP, Finance Data & Analytics to ensure reporting outputs are built on well-governed, consistently defined data foundations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 12+ years of experience in finance, data governance, or enterprise data management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Direct experience designing or implementing a data governance function, including the development of data policies, stewardship networks, and quality frameworks.
- Familiarity with finance data structures — including chart of accounts design, entity hierarchies, and intercompany data flows — in a large, multinational organization.
- Experience with MDM platforms and enterprise data architecture, including experience working with IT partners on data domain design.
- Demonstrated ability to drive alignment across diverse stakeholders in the absence of direct authority.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with cloud-based finance data hubs or enterprise data warehouse environments in a finance context.
- Familiarity with MDM platforms (e.g., Informatica, Oracle MDM).
- Background in ERP implementation with specific responsibility for master data and chart of accounts design.
- Experience in complex, multi-entity, multi-currency operating environments.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship in VP Finance
Align your credentials to U.S. specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to the VP Finance role. An Australian Bachelor of Commerce or Finance degree satisfies this, but a generic business degree may need supporting documentation showing coursework in financial analysis or accounting.
Target public companies with existing LCA filing history
Public companies and large private equity-backed firms are accustomed to DOL Labor Condition Applications. Prioritise employers whose SEC filings or proxy statements indicate international executive hires, as their HR and legal teams already understand the E-3 visa sponsorship process.
Search for VP Finance roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters VP Finance listings by E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not wasting applications on employers unfamiliar with the process. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once an offer is confirmed.
Address prevailing wage early in offer negotiations
Your offered salary must meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for the VP Finance role in that specific metro area. Raise this before signing an offer letter so your employer understands the LCA certification step and can confirm the compensation structure qualifies.
Prepare a specialty occupation support letter from your employer
Consular officers assess whether the VP Finance duties genuinely require a finance or accounting degree. Ask your U.S. employer to document the technical responsibilities, reporting structure, and degree requirements in an offer letter that goes beyond a standard job description.
Plan your consulate appointment around your start date
The E-3 visa is issued at an Australian consulate, and appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth varies by season. Book your appointment as soon as your LCA is DOL-certified so you have sufficient buffer before your agreed employment start date.
E-3 Visa VP Finance: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find VP Finance jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. It surfaces VP Finance listings from employers already familiar with the E-3 process, filtering out companies unlikely to sponsor, so your search is focused on realistic opportunities from the start.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a VP Finance role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes. VP Finance roles qualify because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a closely related field to perform the duties competently. The position must genuinely require that degree, not merely prefer it, and your employer's offer letter should explicitly state the degree requirement to satisfy USCIS and consular standards.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for VP Finance candidates?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and has a 10,500 annual cap that has never been fully used, meaning no lottery and no wait. The H-1B visa is oversubscribed, lottery-based, and typically requires a year or more of lead time. For Australian VP Finance candidates, the E-3 offers a predictable, faster path to starting work in the U.S.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 visa in a VP Finance role?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. or a change of status if you're already stateside. There's no transfer mechanism like H-1B portability, so plan for a processing window of several weeks between accepting an offer and your start date.
