Education Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a education in Oregon?
To work as a licensed educator in Oregon, you must hold a Teaching License issued by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission, Oregon's licensing body for K-12 educators. Most licenses require a bachelor's degree, completion of an approved teacher preparation program, and passing the Oregon Educator Licensure Assessments. Candidates applying for special education or bilingual endorsements complete additional requirements specific to those areas before the TSPC issues the credential.
Which companies hire educations in Oregon?
Employers hiring educations in Oregon right now include Medford School District, 549C, Hillsboro SD 1J, and Centennial SD 28J, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Oregon's education hiring is anchored by large public school districts, regional education service districts, and community college systems that post openings throughout the academic year and into summer for the following term.
Which Oregon cities have the most education jobs?
Medford, Portland, and Eugene have the most education openings in Oregon. Portland dominates volume as the state's largest metro with multiple large school districts, while Salem reflects steady demand tied to state government and Salem-Keizer School District, and Eugene draws openings from the University of Oregon and surrounding Lane County school systems.
Are there remote education jobs in Oregon?
Yes, but they're rare. Most education roles require in-person presence with students, staff, or families, limiting full remote work. About 22% of education openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to sit in curriculum development, instructional design, online program coordination, or district-level administrative roles rather than classroom teaching.
How can I get hired as a education in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a position as an educational assistant or paraeducator within an Oregon school district, which does not require a teaching license and gives you direct classroom exposure. Portland Public Schools, Salem-Keizer School District, and Multnomah Education Service District regularly hire paraeducators and instructional aides. Completing a state-approved teacher preparation program and passing Oregon Educator Licensure Assessments while working in a support role positions you for a licensed teaching position once you have the credential.
Where can I find and apply to education jobs in Oregon?
