About Radiant
Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to 5 years without refueling. Portable nuclear power with rapid-deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Radiant’s unique, practical approach to nuclear development leverages modern software engineering to rapidly deliver safe, factory-built microreactors that use existing, well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory this summer, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.
About the Role
Radiant is seeking an Engineering Manager, Electrical Systems, to lead the electrical engineering team responsible for test infrastructure and system integration for Kaleidos, Radiant's commercial microreactor unit targeted for deployment in 2028. You will manage a team of electrical engineers while owning cross-functional stakeholder relationships and driving execution from early architecture through hardware bring-up, testing, and commissioning. The ideal candidate brings deep electrical engineering expertise, proven people management experience, and a track record of delivering complex hardware programs on tight timelines.
Responsibilities & Duties
Lead and grow a team of electrical engineers, owning hiring, performance management, and technical development.
Own electrical and software integration requirements spanning power distribution, signal conditioning, sensor mapping, actuator interfaces, and device simulation.
Manage schedule, budget, and vendor relationships for electrical hardware and integration activities.
Drive electrical validation strategy; establish test procedures, methodologies, and best practices across the team.
Own cross-functional alignment with embedded, controls, software, and mechanical engineering teams.
Oversee test infrastructure build-out and establish the test environment as a foundational asset ahead of the 2028 deployment target.
Lead design reviews and communicate technical decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
Required Qualifications
BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
8+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including hands-on hardware design, integration, and test.
2+ years of engineering management experience, including hiring and team development.
Demonstrated ability to drive programs with significant scope and ambiguity under tight timelines.
Experience with DAQ and test systems (e.g., NI PXI, dSpace, Speedgoat, or similar).
Proficiency with LabVIEW, TestStand, and at least one scripting language (Python, C++, C#, or similar).
Strong electrical and software debugging and root cause analysis skills.
Desired Qualifications
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
4+ years of engineering management experience, including hiring and team development.
Familiarity with real-time simulation systems and/or FPGA-based hardware.
Experience with controls fundamentals and software testing processes.
Background in high-reliability, safety-critical, or regulated industry environments (aerospace, defense, nuclear, medical, or automotive).

Entry Level Electrical Systems Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level electrical systems engineer job?
Entry level electrical systems engineer roles go to candidates who can show applied knowledge, not just classroom theory. Employers at this level look for hands-on experience with circuit design, systems integration, or embedded controls, whether from internships, senior capstone projects, or personal builds. A portfolio that demonstrates you can take a system from concept to working prototype consistently gives new candidates an edge over a blank resume.
Which companies hire entry level electrical systems engineers?
Companies hiring entry level electrical systems engineers right now include Great Lakes Petroleum, Gotion, and GreenPoint Technologies, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad mix of employers, including defense and aerospace contractors, industrial automation firms, consumer electronics manufacturers, and utilities scaling up their infrastructure teams.
Are there remote entry level electrical systems engineer jobs?
Yes, though most entry level roles in this field lean on-site due to hands-on lab and hardware requirements. About 10% of entry level electrical systems engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically focus on simulation, systems modeling, documentation, or design review work that doesn't require a physical lab presence.
Are these new grad electrical systems engineer jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior electrical systems engineer roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-ops toward that threshold, or explicitly accepts a strong portfolio in place of full-time history. Searching by these openings is the fastest way to find roles built for candidates entering the field for the first time.
Which industries hire the most entry level electrical systems engineers?
Entry Level electrical systems engineer roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Energy, and Automotive, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive entry level hiring because they rely on continuous product development cycles, infrastructure expansion, or defense contract pipelines that create steady demand for engineers who can grow into systems integration and design ownership.
