Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 per year
About us
Our Buildings Engineering team is seeking an Electrical Designer/Technician to join our growing practice. Working under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer, you will contribute to a variety of tasks and smaller projects as part of a larger engineering team. In this role, you will assist with evaluating, selecting, specifying, and designing electrical power and lighting systems to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and best practices. Responsibilities may include AutoCAD and/or Revit design, calculations, and field work. Projects will range from routine assignments to those with more complex technical features. You will apply your building engineering knowledge to support the preparation of electrical plans, drawings, details, and specifications—delivering high-quality work that meets client standards and expectations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree or technical diploma/certificate in a related program, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong knowledge of building electrical design, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm systems, device layouts, circuiting, panel schedules, load calculations, riser diagrams, and schedules.
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing detailed drawings, with the ability to coordinate design elements across disciplines (architectural, civil, structural, ICT, and mechanical).
- Solid understanding of applicable codes and standards, with strong working knowledge of California Building Codes.
- Familiarity with CAD and BIM software, particularly AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of specialty engineering applications such as SKM Power Tools is a plus.
- Ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects.
- Strong logical reasoning, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure concepts into deliverables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to support technical consultation with clients and project stakeholders.
- Professional, credible presence with the ability to earn trust through technical expertise and demeanor.
- Ability to work in a typical office environment, including extended periods at a computer.
