EMT Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a emt in Colorado?
To work as an emt in Colorado, you must complete a state-approved EMT training program and obtain certification through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Office of Emergency Medical and Trauma Services. Most programs require completion of a cognitive exam and psychomotor skills assessment aligned with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Colorado accepts National Registry certification as the basis for state licensure, so passing the NREMT exam is the practical first step.
Which companies hire emts in Colorado?
Colorado emt roles are posted by Biolife Plasma Services, UCHealth, and AMR and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Denver's large hospital systems and regional EMS agencies together account for a significant share of consistent openings across the Front Range.
Which Colorado cities have the most emt jobs?
Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Aurora have the most emt openings in Colorado. Denver drives the largest share of demand as home to major hospital networks and busy 911 dispatch systems, while Colorado Springs and Aurora support high call volumes through fire-based EMS programs, regional hospitals, and private transport providers serving both urban and surrounding rural communities.
Are there remote emt jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they are rare. About 14% of emt openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that most emt work requires direct, hands-on patient contact in the field or a clinical setting. The portions of emt work most likely to support remote arrangements are quality improvement review, EMS education and training coordination, and administrative dispatch support roles.
How can I get hired as a emt in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for an EMT-Basic position with a private transport or interfacility transfer service, where new certifications are commonly accepted. AMR and UCHealth both offer new-hire onboarding and field training programs for recent graduates. Volunteering with a local fire district or rural EMS agency in Colorado builds documented call experience quickly. Holding a current National Registry certification and a clean driving record gives entry-level candidates a clear edge over uncertified applicants.
Where can I find and apply to emt jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to emt jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings across emergency services, hospital systems, and private transport providers. Search the listings to find roles that fit your certification level and location, then apply directly to the ones that match your background.
