Energy Project Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an energy project manager job in Houston?
Target the Energy Corridor and Greenway Plaza districts first, where the highest concentration of oil and gas operators, EPC firms, and energy consultancies are headquartered. Candidates with PMP certification and field experience in upstream or LNG projects stand out locally. Networking through the Project Management Institute Houston Chapter and the Society of Petroleum Engineers gives direct access to hiring managers at the companies driving most openings.
Which companies hire energy project managers in Houston?
Companies currently hiring energy project managers in Houston include IFS, Halff, and ONENERGY, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's employer mix includes major integrated oil companies, independent E&P operators, large EPC contractors, and a growing number of renewable energy developers expanding their Texas footprints.
Are there remote energy project manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, though remote work is limited for this role since most positions require on-site presence at project facilities, fabrication yards, or client offices. About 32% of energy project manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. Planning, estimating, and stakeholder reporting functions are most likely to allow hybrid scheduling in Houston-based roles.
How can I get an energy project manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is a project coordinator or project controls analyst role at an EPC firm or energy services company in the Energy Corridor. Houston employers such as large contractors and midstream operators regularly hire coordinators who can advance internally. A PMP associate credential, proficiency in Primavera P6, and exposure to capital project environments through internships at Houston-area refineries or LNG terminals strengthen your candidacy.
Which industries hire the most energy project managers in Houston?
Houston energy project manager roles concentrate in Insurance, Technology & Software, and Banking & Financial Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's status as the global hub for oil and gas operations, combined with rapid investment in Gulf Coast LNG export terminals and renewable energy buildout, keeps demand for project management professionals consistently high across those sectors.
