onsemi is seeking a highly skilled and motivated intern to join our Validation Engineering team to work cross functionally with technology development, design, quality assurance, product engineering, test, and applications engineering. Validation Engineering is responsible for planning and executing product validation activities that confirm sensor performance, functionality, reliability readiness, and manufacturability from early silicon through production release. With a strong focus on test development, data analysis, debug, and issue resolution, Validation Engineering plays a central role in validating new products, identifying risks, supporting silicon bring-up, and enabling high-quality customer and production readiness. The ideal candidate is excited by working cross-functionally on a diverse range of technical challenges with an eye to continuous learning and developing the competencies needed to find solutions.

• Responsibilities

This opportunity will ask a student to have the following performance objectives:

• Support validation planning, silicon bring-up, debug, and characterization of new and derivative image sensor products, including test chips targeted at circuit and process learning, reliability readiness, and manufacturability.
• Validate new circuit IP and sensor functions such as memories, OTPM, pumps, regulators, serial communication interfaces, safety mechanisms, and new DFT test modes.
• Develop and improve validation test methodologies, automation, and data analysis flows to detect issues early, reduce debug cycle time, and support robust product release decisions.
• Enhance the performance and usability of existing validation tools by improving scripts, automation, documentation, and reporting workflows.
• Support failure analysis, root-cause investigation, and cross-functional debug activities as key components of the validation engineering role.

• Qualifications

In order to be considered for an internship, you must be a student currently enrolled in school pursuing an accredited degree program. This position is specifically looking for someone who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or doctoral program in Electrical Engineering or related field with emphasis on chip level circuit design.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in progress, or related field with coursework on analog and digital circuit design.
• Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics.
• Proficient in scripting languages (e.g. Python, VB, Perl, C, bash).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong team player and ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
• Experience with Electrical lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, power supplies, power meters, signal generators).
• Familiarity with CMOS Circuit design and test methodology preferred.
• Understanding of imager sensor architecture and product reliability requirements preferred.
