Engineering Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a engineering in Texas?
To practice engineering professionally in Texas, you must obtain licensure through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. The path starts with an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in engineering, followed by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam to earn Engineer-in-Training status. After gaining qualifying work experience under a licensed Professional Engineer, you sit for the Principles and Practice of Engineering exam to earn your PE license.
Which companies hire engineerings in Texas?
Employers hiring engineerings in Texas right now include Apple, Amazon, and Garver, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's energy corridor, defense contractors, and semiconductor industry mean large-scale employers maintain consistent engineering hiring across multiple disciplines year-round.
Which Texas cities have the most engineering jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas have the most engineering openings in Texas right now. Houston anchors the state's energy and chemical processing sector, Dallas-Fort Worth draws defense, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing employers, and Austin's semiconductor and tech infrastructure build-out has made it one of the fastest-growing engineering markets in the state.
Are there remote engineering jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare for most engineering roles since the work typically requires on-site presence at plants, construction sites, labs, or manufacturing floors. About 15% of engineering openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions are most common in software-adjacent engineering disciplines such as systems engineering, controls, or technical program management.
How can I get hired as a engineering in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for rotational engineer or junior engineer programs at large Texas industrial employers, which are specifically designed for recent graduates without field experience. Companies in Houston's energy corridor and DFW's defense sector regularly hire engineers directly from Texas A&M, UT Austin, and Rice University through campus recruiting. Holding an active Engineer-in-Training certificate, which requires only passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, signals readiness and separates new-grad applicants in competitive screening.
Where can I find and apply to engineering jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to engineering jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Texas employers. Find roles that match your discipline and experience level and apply directly to the ones that fit.
