This is a hands-on management position. You will set technical direction, make architecture, scope, and integration calls, and be accountable for delivery across both teams. We are looking for an engineer who moved into management without leaving the engineering behind — someone who can review a design, challenge an integration approach, and understand what a schedule slip costs, while also running one-on-ones, handling performance, and growing the people on the teams.
This is a hybrid role, out of our Niles, IL HQ.
- Manage, coach, and develop engineers across the Events and Content teams, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Own delivery commitments for both teams — scope, schedule, and quality — and escalate risk early with a recommended path, not just a flag.
- Set and defend technical direction: requirement scope, architecture decisions, integration approaches, platform and tooling choices, and the trade-offs behind them.
- Serve as the technical decision owner where the two teams' work overlaps.
- Partner with product, program management, and peer engineering teams to translate roadmap commitments into staffed, sequenced work.
- Review designs and code at a depth sufficient to catch integration and reliability problems before they reach test.
- Work alongside the outgoing ENC Large manager through 2026–2027 to absorb that team's roadmap, customer commitments, systems, and staff.
- Maintain and improve engineering practices across both teams — design review, test strategy, release process, on-call or support rotations as applicable.
- Represent both teams in cross-functional planning, architecture review, and resourcing discussions at the department level.
- Build succession depth on your own teams: identify and develop technical leads so the same single-point dependency does not recur.
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of management experience
- Minimum 7 years of engineering experience in one or more of the following engineering disciplines; software development, electrical engineering, or systems architecture.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a cross functional team environment.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including experience in developing and delivering technical information in presentations.
- Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
- Demonstrated ability to work on complex assignments where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Exercises good judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

PAY TRANSPARENCY
Shure offers a competitive compensation structure that is reviewed annually to attract, hire, and retain the industry’s top talent. Base salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base salary for the opportunity. The base salary for this position ranges from $128,100 to $217,800, with a midpoint target. This position may also be eligible for our incentive pay program, which varies based on individual and Company performance in the year. If your salary expectations do not align, still apply as we are often flexible on the seniority of posted positions. All positions also include an award-winning benefits package.
