Enterprise Architect Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an enterprise architect in Texas?
Enterprise architect is not a state-licensed role in Texas, so the path runs through education, experience, and professional certification. Most Texas employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by several years progressing through roles like systems analyst, solutions architect, or IT manager. The TOGAF certification from The Open Group is widely recognized across Texas hiring markets and often listed as a requirement or strong preference in senior postings.
How much do enterprise architects make in Texas?
Enterprise architects in Texas earn a median of about $151,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $92,890 for the lowest 10% to over $200,390 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire enterprise architects in Texas?
Employers hiring enterprise architects in Texas right now include Molex, Broadcom, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise | HPE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major energy companies, and large financial institutions means demand is consistent and spreads across both legacy IT modernization and greenfield cloud programs.
Which Texas cities have the most enterprise architect jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston lead Texas for enterprise architect openings. Dallas-Fort Worth draws the highest volume thanks to its dense cluster of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and technology companies, while Houston's energy sector and Austin's fast-growing tech industry generate steady demand across both established enterprises and scaling companies.
Are there remote enterprise architect jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, because enterprise architecture is primarily a strategic and design discipline that does not require physical presence. About 22% of enterprise architect openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves documentation, stakeholder alignment, and roadmap development rather than hands-on infrastructure. Fully remote roles tend to concentrate in cloud strategy and security architecture rather than on-premises infrastructure design.
How can I get hired as an enterprise architect in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building credibility as a solutions architect or senior systems analyst first, then moving into enterprise-scope roles. Large Texas employers like Dell Technologies, AT&T, and major health systems such as HCA Houston Healthcare hire for associate architect and infrastructure lead roles that serve as a direct on-ramp. Earning a TOGAF Foundation certification before applying signals readiness for architecture work, and a portfolio showing you have documented current-state and future-state architecture diagrams for even a modest system gives you a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to enterprise architect jobs in Texas?
